France had banned British tourists from entering unless for essential purposes. Here we go- looks like UK is going to get treated in the same manner it reacted to South Africa. Expect other EU countries to make similar announcements soon

I think there is also a restriction now on going to the UK from France, never mind just entering France.

Euronews is reporting that Portugal is preparing for mass boosters for the fourth jab! Obviously other countries must also be considering this too. It looks like this is going to be a part of our lives going forward. We had our 3rd jabs 10 days ago and happy to have ticked that box (for now).
When we reported the first few cases of Omicron I knew it was too late and that the new virus had a big toe hold, though I am surprised at the 'tidal wave' of infectious and how quickly it superceded the Delta variant in the UK. It makes me wonder if these travel restrictions are really necessary. Once its in .... and we only know that after some time, it will take off aggressively. 'Door' and 'bolting horses' !!

PS I heard some EU guys calling it Oh-Macron!

Also. https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-triggers-order-of-vaccines-adapted-for-omicron-variant/
Hats off to the scientific community who can adapt so quickly!

At the time of writing, if you've got a UK Passport and can prove that you're legally Resident in Spain, Portugal, or wherever in the EU, you're allowed 24 hrs to transit through France, as your principal place of residence is in the EU.
Sorry to say that UK family hoping to visit family in the EU at Christmas via France, can no longer do so, as such travel is considered "non-essential" in France.

When passing thru France, make sure to avoid French President Emmanuel Macron, as he has just tested positive for Covid-19.

I have noticed that since Spain introduced the need for the covid certificate from yesterday the Salude AndalucÃÂa App which has the certificate on has become very unstable. Very laggy and throwing up errors when trying to log on to view the certificate. Before it was very smooth and quick to use. I have saved a copy to access and printed one off but I can see this being an issue if people haven't and try just using the app to present the certificate. Anyone else having issues with the app?

Sorry Bob, I missed that one. I haven't being following the Spanish media recently. Far more interested in the topics like driving licences and Lord Frost bottling it and bailing out.
We need these covid certs to do exactly what in Spain?

restrictions depend on where you live
in Valencia it will be for restaurants cinema, gyms etc. Still need to be ratified. Big pow wow tomorrow to decide on overall approach to the growing levels of infections in Spain

As Chipmonk says it depends on region. I believe currently in Andlucia it is for visitors to hospitals and care homes. I read somewhere of speculation it could be used for hospitality but not sure. I have printed off a copy to keep with me just in case. It was more that I noticed the app playing up when I tried checking re medication. It worked great last week but playing up now. I just wondered if it was maybe due to more people using it for covid certificates maybe for travel also given time of year.

I was in Paris yesterday and it was busy as usual bit with a noticeable absence of Brits!! I popped into the city for some Christmas shopping and the streets were very busy. I had to show my vaccine status to go into a restaurant for lunch. They scanned the UK NHS Q code and were fine with that. The app shows the booster now as well. I understand its being accepted across the EU.
Last night I went for curry in Leicester and that was like a ghost town in comparison. Its a bit busier today, just dropped my car off for service and now having a late breakfast and the streets are quite busy. The view in the UK seems to be that Covid passports are political suicide as it creates a 2 tier society. There are apparently over 6 million refusing to get vaccinated. I respect the freedom of choice but it seems a bit stupid to me, it just a flu jab.
Its bloody freezing.........

It's already 2 tier, unvaccinated UK residents can't enter Spain which is a pain for those who have not yet been offered it.
