I know once you get on the main dual carriageway you just head for the bridge, but its getting to the bridge, as I can remember having to change lanes quite often and having to take a turning on the right about 10 mins after leaving airport. I do have a sat nav but it tells you turn right when you cant turn there at all, directions are just useless. Can anybody name buildings that I need to pass so that I know I am still on the right road to Costa Esuri.

Please somebody help me, I am in total panic about this!

The easiest and quickest to get to the A-22 is that when you join the dual carriageway link road directly outside the airport GO STRAIGHT TO THE END until you cannot go any further - it's around 3km at a guess. (many people prefer the slightly longer route of coming off this road a KM earlier but the amount of newbies who end up taking the the wrong turning and end up in Faro is unreal!!!)
Once you get to the end of this link road a big concrete wall directs you around to the right where you come back on yourself to face north (or in this case left). You are now to follow this single lane roud through a couple of traffic lights and KEEP GOING even if you think you've gone wrong - you won't have. After about 5km or so (maybe more) you'll see the motorway passing horizontally overhead up in front of you. There is a big sign saying ESPANHA and turn off right onto the motorway. It is then a straight 60km-ish run to the bridge, which you cross, go off at next exit, go around the roundabout until fourth turn off (you can't go off the third anyhow!)

There is really no need to worry - there is only one real turning to remember and it is very clearly marked. Once you get out of the airport onto the dual carriageway continue without any turning off. At the end of this road it curves right in a big loop which takes you out onto the road North towards the motorway, you just have to merge into the traffic. Continue along this road for about ten minutes until it too turns into a dual carriageway, this is just before the motorway. You then need to be in the inside (RH) lane and take the slip clearly marked ESPANA onto the motorway. Even if you miss it don't panic, just go to the next junction and do a U-Turn. As someone else mentions, go to Google maps and trace the route on the satelite view until you are confident. My sister, and my wife have both had the same worries and both found it really easy once they got there.
Good lick and enjoy. Linda and I are out from 7th March

All the directions above are good, there is more than one way to reach the
A22, but don't worry.

The easiest way to navigate in the Algarve is by the mountains and the sea; keep the mountains on your left and the sea on your right and whichever road you use you'll get to Spain!

Hi Karen, maybe if you post which flight you are on there will be someone on same flight, or picking up someone, who will guide you on to motorway.

JDR - I know you're retired and all that, but come on.... you must be losing your marbles!!!! This whole site, across all the continents, only survives because of this Esuri thread. To ask them to venture out of here would only cheapen it!

I think you've been out of the game too long ;)

President of bankrupt Martinsa-Fadesa collecting a monthly wage of 75,000 Euro

The money is being paid by the administrators despite the seven billion Euro debts of the company.

Despite leading his company, Martinsa-Fadesa, to what has become Spain’s largest ever company bankruptcy proceedings last July, the President of the Company, Fernando Martín Álvarez, has still been taking a wage of 75,000 € - a month.

The wage has been accepted by the company administrators and is being paid from the active assets of the company. The revelation, which will no doubt not impress those who are owed money because of the bankruptcy proceedings, was made in the business newspaper, Cinco Días.

The company has debts of more than 7 billion €, and despite the bankruptcy the paper says that Martín still has personal assets of 58.4 million €.

Re: COSTA ESURI - AYAMONTE

Martin doesn't have personal assets to that amount. His wife, kids, third cousin twice removed may have, which he will cash in at some point!
