Back from another great week at Esuri. Six games of golf in eight days, I need to get back to work for the rest!

We decided to have a trip up to the new road bridge mentioned on the forum recently. It is a very pleasant trip, about 150KM in total. We drove up the Spanish side first, up to Villablanca, then stopping at San Lucar, before carrying on to El Granado, and finally across to the bridge at Pomarao. They were still putting the finishing touches to the bridge, (as can be seen from the photo), as it had only recently been opened to traffic.

From the other side, we took the new road towards Mertola, but when this ran out, we had a choice of two ways to get to the town. I think we chose the wrong one, via Fernandes, as this turned out to be a single track, with a few passing place to get past the sparse traffic we met coming the other way. However, we finally made it to Mertola, and stopped for a coffee. This looks an interesting town, and one I wish we had found more time to enjoy. From there we drove down to a further short stop at Alcoutim, finally following the river down to Castro Marim, and back across the Guadiana.

There is quite a contrast in the scenery on both sides of the river; the Spanish side is more barren and rocky, whilst the Portuguese side is greener, like the English countryside. Both sides have some hilly roads, with steep slopes and sheer drops on both sides, much like the roads crossing the Pennines. We saw a fine selection of wildlife, some we recognized, and some we didn’t. I particularly enjoyed the last leg of the trip, following the Guadiana from Alcoutim to Castro Marim

There are some more photos of the bridge, and accompanying dam on our website, for anyone interested.

Hi everyone

Have just spent 4 glorious days in CE - 18 - 20 degrees , blue cloudless skys . My son visited with us for the very first time . He thought CE could be great but that it was like a building site in too many places for it to be really attractive , especially to new purchasers .

The cranes are moving on "Sun and Sands" and the villa with the curved roof was being worked on . Completion at S&S expected in July with 90% of the units sold ??!!

The golf course was busy on the mornings we played and we decided to try a mid-day start . Big , big mistake - followed some Germans who took nearly 6 hours for the round !!!! Visited Quinta do Vale across the river . Fantastic views of the golf course there and of CE - go and have a coffee and sit on the balcony - lovely .

Article in the new "Resident" paper showed Ayamonte council officials signing an agreement with the owners of Albatross 1 to allow local people to rent 1 of 70 or so apartments there for about 450 Euros per month with an option to buy after a few years at 1250 Euros per sq.m. of floor space.

Went to Jags , great food and we were well looked after by Jean Michel . Thoroughly recommend it .

Everywhere was so quiet , except Ayamonte which remains a centre of activity no matter when you go there . On our way to Faro today for our return flight to B'ham at 11 a.m. we saw only 10 other vehicles .

I'm not sure that we ever want CE to be too busy but it would be nice if it was "finished" so that there was a better feel to the place .

Keep posting the useful stuff .

Chrispee:thumbsup:

John and Kath's palace proves it has a stunning view - as it is clearly visible directly under the bushy-topped tree! Sundowners up in the tower anyone?

You see, if you posted more often than just 62 times in 4 years, you might - just might, mnd you - understand what is happening.

The answer I gave was in response to someone clearly using an alias.

But, bless. I shouldn't expect too much of you - after all you thought Esuri was a good investment!!!!!

As he says keep up to speed, but then the mods usually delete these before they are seen. ;-)

If you see a post like that which needs attention please report it by using the blue square with the exclamation mark on it, next to the karma button.
If you don't bring the posts to our attention then they won't get seen unless one of us happens to read the thread.
Moderators have lives of their own to run and cannot monitor the posts 24 hours a day, so the help of all posters in reporting problems is welcomed.

Chevy,

I have a deposit on one of these apartments also. From conversations with my lawyer and TASA they have been trying to refinance for some time. They claim they have not issued all of the Bank Guarantees for that reason, although that is another matter. I am told they have managed to refinance a development in Morocco which was key to their survival but they still obviously need to do the same at Esuri to be able to finish the phases they have started.
I was there in October and there was maybe a dozen or so workers on site so not really much activity considering the amount of work still outstanding. I have some pictures of the site if you are interested. The site office was open sporadically when we were there. Also they have indefinately postponed all of the other phases. Phase 1 completion is due 1st Q 2009 plus the 3 month allowance making it due finally on the 1st of June 2009. Not sure about Phase 2.

I would not be at all surprised if they had stopped work completely.

Hope this helps.

Hi Chevy

I would love to see any pics you have of the tasa development. We are in the same boat as you...ours nis in phase 2. Currently our solicitor is looking into things.

Yes as JDR says, or you can use a third party photo storage place like photobucket and link to them
