After my first experience of driving in Seville I now go over the second bridge and park in the underground car parks near the Bus Station.

It costs very little, about 3 e for the morning. It seems to be charged as cents per minute so you only pay for the time you are there

Hi
On our first trip to Seville we took rather longer than I would have liked to find where we had parked! It was going dark and I was in a mild state of panic. I now take a photo with my phone of surrounding buildings if we go to any large unfamiliar place.

Just returned from Costa Esuri, the weather was fantastic. I just wanted to say publicly that Liz and Denny did a fantastic job delivering furniture from IKEA. I got their details from this forum. They did the shopping and helped with assembly, all with a smile and at a very reasonable price. I went to IKEA myself later in the week and could not get out fast enough! Thanks Liz and Denny.

If anyone has information on local gestoria that they recommend and would like to share, can you please PM me with their details.

George

My Gestoria is Ramon Ojeda Martin (Graduo Social) and he has been very good. His English is limited but his wife speaks very good English and acts as his interpreter.

Hi George and Rosalia

Do you have contact details for Liz and Denny, I can't seem to find any on the forum. I still have a few bits of furniture to get and Ikea seems the ideal place. It would be great to know someone who could go there on my behalf.

Many Thanks
Susie

How's this for a cock up. Flying out today to complete on our plot. Flights non refundable, parking non refundable. Nothing unusual in that EXCEPT just had a call from my bank who are granting the mortgage and guess what.......they hadn't noticed the valuation on the land, that they had organised, has expired and can't be sorted for a few days. No point in going now.

Decided not to. Gonna go after Bancaja to reimburse our costs.....that'll be fun!! Carol has come up with the brilliant idea of "Lets go to Bluewater and do some Christmas shopping". My day can't get any worse.

John,
You hit the nail right on the head!!

We can confirm the hold up at the shop, and the changed opening times. He is not open nearly as much now as he was. Still tried to use the facility as much as possible though

Another cautionary tale about Council Tax. When we were out in February we tried to pay for both 2007 and 2008. As most of you will know, that for 2008 could only be paid between July and September (which we did in September), but we were assured by the chap in the office near Laguna Square, that we had nothing to pay for 2007. Although I thought that a bit odd, since we completed in autumn 2006, he was most insistent, and even printed out our 'recorded' details to confirm.
However, when out this month we had one of those 'failure to deliver' notices from the correros. A trip to the oficina de correros in Ayamonte only confirmed the letter had been held for just 7 days, and had been returned to sender. In this case the council tax office in Huelva. Recognising the first word of that address, we returned to the Laguna Sq office - where the same chap happily confirmed that the letter had been a penalty notice chasing up our dues for 2007. So much for his assurances in February! We were, however, able to pay the bill and clear the debt, albeit he would only accept cash. Bit of frantic searching of pockets and handbags, but we paid. Just be aware.

Looks like I'll be moving on the the Wealth/Income Tax next.

Also had all our doors and windows varnished by Benny, who managed to source some German materials from a supplier in Portugal, exactly matching the existing colour. Have to say the result was absolutely great; it looks so much better, withn a deeper colour. Really good.

More on another day.

Been back from C E two weeks now,had a golfing weekend with some friends was excellent great weather good food and 3 days golf n beer!. Ate at Jags the first night good as ever,he also joined us for a knock at Esuri east on the Monday,Ayamonte was quieter than normal but still enough bars open to accomadate us.

Stayed at the Diego by Eroski roundabout, basic but sufficient and handy for town, played Quinta Do Vale very nice course and real friendly staff, puts our club house in the shade though, well worth a visit even just for a coffee.

Was also told by an Esuri resident that commercial centre and hotel had both been sold, also a bus service for the school children was being arranged?. Every were on esuri really quiet but all really clean and looking as good as
ever looking forward to our return in Jan. Sorry we missed each other Jon Bxl maybe next time?.If any one needs any details on the golf courses played and costs just PM me,some pics below of said weekend.

When I was over in October their Sales Shed was closed and I did not see a great deal of building except on Private villas. Hopefully for you I am wrong about the building

Hi Guys

I am sure this has been discussed many times in the past but I would appreciate it if some one could clarify the "Wealth Tax" that we have to pay.

I have been advised that even though I don’t let my apartment and even though the value of the property has actually decreased dramatically I am still liable to pay a wealth tax.

I have paid it in previous years based on the fact I could accept the value of the apartment has increased and I had in some respect had an increase in wealth however in light of the down turn in property values I begrudge paying a tax titled “Wealth Tax”

What is everyone else’s experience?

The wealth tax is DUE to be abolished, but I don't think it has been finalised yet.
It has nothing to do with any increase or decrease in value, it is based on a valuation by the local council, which will probably bear little resemblance to its' real value anyway. It also has nothing to do with any income derived from the property, that would have to be declared separately anyway.
