As you enter Alcoutim turn left and over the bridge [covered parking on the right] I think it is the first left and is clearly signposted with tourist signs. Not sure I would bathe in it. Put off by someone who lives there! but it looks lovely! check it out and report back.

I dont know how you can say that as you have not been in spain long enough.go and have your dinner in a local vilage cooked by a local who was taught by her mother and she was taught by her mother and so on.dont get confused by most of the crap they sell in ayamonte ( talking spanish food only)

Sorry I did not mean to offend anybody but due to work commitments, I do not really get the chance to discover the local villages - but I am sure you are absolutely correct.....but I am used to the Ayamonte food!

How can I be offended Im English.All I ment was if you were here years ago you would taste good food.a lot of places in ayamonte have lost it.but that you can understand due to the turn over of people and the cooking skills dying off..in the local villages mostly things havnt changed too mutch as things are still cooked as mama cooked them or by mama herself.

Are you talking about the river beach? If so it is tributary of the river and is lovely. As you drive into the village turn left over the river and there is some covered parking but carry on and shortly afterwards there are turnings - two on the left - I think you should drive down the second - can't remember exactly how it is signposted but sure it refers to the river. Down there are places to park, a little bar, covered areas to picnic, a grassed games area, a man made beach fronting the river. I have swam in it and although I would not put my head under it seemed fine to me - temperature was perfect this summer. There is a little waterfall that adds to the ambience. It has a small number of thatched sun shades but they are much in demand so take your own although it is hard to erect as the sand is only so many inches thick so not much to stick your shades into. There are toilets and outside showers. The only downside we had this year was the number of wasps. Many families retreated to their cars or elsewhere to eat their picnics. Those with meat based picnics had no chance.

I would recommend it as part of day out to Alcoutim - a good second to sitting in that lovely bar over looking the river with a cold beer at the lowest price we paid in the whole holiday this year. Most definitiely one of the best views.

I presently own a property on Marina Esuri manz 7. Next year i will be looking to bring out quite a large number of my family to celebrate my 40th!! (oh No!!!). Is there anyone out there who rents out there property preferably on Manz 7 or 6. I will be looking for the end of July going into August. I also heard that there was a great lake off the m-way somewhere between Faro and Tavira, with beaches etc, does anybody know any details, please?

PS if you like octopus, Santa Luzia is a nice place to go - its a small fishing village just a couple of km's from Tavira going west, they call it the capital of the octopus... very nice there and a nice place to walk around a bit, see the fishermen coming in and tending their nets etc and have a very reasonable meal too..... we make a day of it - go there and then come back via Tavira, perhaps go to the island, and then an early evening drink in Tavira.

I was over mid May this year and had the place to myself - super. Ice cream kabin open but that was all. However, all free facilities available, i.e. small beach and sunshades so it was like my own private resort. Going over late September but guess it may be a little busier now - ah well ...

why would you go there when you have a lot more on your door step nearly.eg jet skies,sailing unpteen bars,hotels,comircial centres,restaurants. kids fair.stalls,markets,golf. try islantilla and la antilla

Friends stayed at our house last year and went there as the children had a skin reaction to the salty sea water, they said they had found a beach near Alcoutim where they could swim in the river and how lovely it was.

there is a man made beach just opposit san lucar de guardiana you get a little dingy across from spain.I dont know if it would better for the kids reaction.but if they have no problems near alcoutim then thats the best beach for your friends kids.its worth the drive so the kids have a fun day.
