I find it odd the way the British demark a place in Spain. They seem to want to give the name of the Bloque of apartments or at best the Urbanisation. If people ask me where we are building the house I always say Ayamonte. They then ask where it is since very few have heard of it and I say right on the border with Portugal and some reply that they have been to Isla Canela can it be near there?

I think of it just like here in England we live in Milton Keynes but there are sub districts such as Bletchley, Wolverton, Stoney Stratford etc. but when asked all but the snobs would say they live in Milton Keynes. So I will live in Ayamonte very close to some great places such as VRSo, Isla Christina and Villa Blanca. That is what makes it a great place two countries miles of endless suger sand beaches and very interesting places close by.

It does help to have a car but you could get by without and if that little shuttle bus could be extended to the golf club car park it would be economical too.

why would you say you are living in ayamonte when its costa esuri. thats like telling every one you are staying at the hilton when you are in a BB

The town government is Ayamonte thats where I will live in the district of CE, my address here is: -

23 Accacia Ave
Lowtown
MILTON KEYNES
Bucks
MKO OLL

it will be: -

Villa No8Do
Calle Arcpreste de Jones
Urb Costa Esuri
21400 AYAMONTE
Huelva

So I live in Ayamonte.

If I was in Burgos and said to a local I live in CE he would not know where that was but if I said Ayamonte he would, just as in England if I said to someone in Newcastle I lived in Lowtown he would not know where that was, if I say Milton Keynes he falls over laughing and gives a concrete MOOO

It means "It (she) will not let me down". Given by a Spanish King, as a motto to Sevilla, who was supported by Sevilla when all about him was crumbling.

Just thought it was appropriate back in 2004 when we were about to take off on lifes big adventure and we saw the translation when wandering the streets of Sevilla just after signing on the dotted line.

If Fadesa have built 2500 units of all types and sold a bit more than half and perhaps there are 150-200 plots completed or underway thats something like 1700 units that have potential occupation.

If you take all the Albatros developments (3) and Vista Hermosa which have been held up at completion for Electrics. When these are released you could be looking at 2000 units that are available for occupation. Thats not bad from a standing start in a "swamp" in 2003.

Having worked in the New Town movement in UK back in the 1970's the new towns declared then such as Dawley (Telford), Runcorn, Skelmersdale and MK are only just coming to full flower now with huge ammounts of Public Subsidy on the way I don't think CE is doing too bad. My view right from the start was that this was a 10-20 year project. Don't forget those new towns with the exception of MK did not have commercial centres for many years and even when they did they were built with public money and only when they had a track record were they sold on to pension funds and the like.

When we first looked round in late 2003 direct with Fadesa nothing was made of the commercial centre although it was noted there were to be 3 hotels 2x4* and a 5*, the marina was not mentioned at all nor were the other developers projects. So if I look back its is all as projected except that the Hotels will be a bit longer than I would have hoped. They will have to wait for the next upturn

As mentioned on my previous post Polaris World has featured in a huge marketing and advertising icampaign n the Uk.I have only spoken to a couple of people who have been there, but I do not think PW is any further forward in property sales and infrastructure than CE.
I agree with you that what we have so far is not bad,in fact it is pretty damn good.

i agree with many of you. I am very glad to have bought a house there and any of the negative post is going to make me change my opinion about CE, i like the weather, the people, the town of Ayamonte, the food... i like everything there. I am accustomed to have to use the car even when i just want to buy bread, so, the fact of not having a shopping mall near doesn't matter at least, for me, but when people think about investing in somewhere, searching in internet is the first thing they will do and when they write "costa esuri" the first link they found is this thread and there have been a lot of negative posts here, enough to remove the desires of any person of buying something there.
This is just my opinion ;)
regards,
marisol

Excellent post Marisol and I know that many of us agree, I am delighted with our buy and wish we were only going to have a smaller shop anyway, I'm not bothered about a huge Commercial Centre but then again happy if it does one day get filled by outlets...whatever and whenever that may be.
The "negative" posts are only natural on a forum when we all express our concerns and are looking for assurance but as you say it can show CE in a bad light, this is exactly the reason Sam opted out as she was worried about the effect on new purchasers.......and we certainly need house buyers to continue to invest.
Yes, ok you sometimes get up at 9.30am BUT THEN you walk all the way to the beach, so you more than make up for your lie-in. Also I find that with the shutters down in the bedrooms it is SO dark and all is quiet, I am soooo relaxed I can snooze away easily. Hope you. Fer and Rocco are well and hope to see you soon.

John and Kath...completely understand what you are saying we live in a village that hardly anybody has heard of (or can pronounce or spell ) For Spain I usually tell people we have a place on the Spanish -Portuguese border near Ayamonte, they can then place the area in their minds. For UK we live very near the Staffordshire - Shropshire border not far from Newport. In fact just off there to shop.....no commercial centre in our village either and we have coped, we do have 4 pubs though.

TO ANYBODY NEW BROWSING THIS SITE...Costa Esuri needs to be seen along with the surrounding area PLEASE do not decide against it based on the comments here. No rose-tinted glasses but certainly not blinkers either.

All the best

Mel

Indeed it is an award that Sevilla is very proud of. I cant remember the word but the No8do is a play on the word madeja, for the hank of wool pictured and "No madejado" somehow means "you did not let me down". Maybe Marisol knows better the exact Spanish.

I have discussed this with Marisol before and there are several different versions of the translation but the one we saw in the shop window seemed so prescient!

Hi Mel,

Fully endorse your comments.

We have just had a family who are friends of friends, who we do not know, stay at our house for two weeks.Just arrived back yesterday.

I warned them before they went about lack of facilities on site and the building work etc.

Received a call today and they absolutely loved everything about Esuri and Ayamonte and will be recommending the place to other friends.

They also mentioned the little shop and said how good it was and that they could get most things there that they needed.

Capitan,

Regarding your "no madejado" comment I assume it is "no me ha dejado"

As you know Andaluces have a habit of eating their words so although they are saying "no me ha dejado" but it sounds like "no madejado" although it shouldn't be written. Bit like Pescadito becomes pescaito or papado is really pan para dos

Oops. Forgot the translation. Assuming it is as I say, I would profer, given the context, 'it hasn't left me'

Have I hit a nerve? Still not answered the question though.I'm not that interested really,I just thought it was not like you, to take so long to answer a question.
