TWO months after Derby’s failing Muslim school was placed in special measures, a monitoring inspection has found it “less stable” and still “in chaos”.

Agree with that jimenato...besides, just like BBC commentators lol, aren´t teachers supposed to teach without prejudice or opinion? Simply teach the facts!

Quite right; so one can teach Darwin & evolution & at the same time God & creation.
I used to do so during a sheep lambing practical to agricultural students.

Just to get the facts right, then muslim school is also under notice and has been given a deadline to meet the required standards.

The Discovery New School was put into special measures in May 2013 and has had its funding withdrawn because it has been found not to have made any progress towards improving standards since that date.

The Al-Madinah school received its unsatisfactory Ofsted report in October 2013 so is 5 months behind the timescale for the other school.

Does it not occur to you that it is the difference in timescales which is the reason why one is now closed and the other is not, rather than the fact that the second school is a Muslim one?

My point is that there were rumblings about the Al-madinha school in early 2012 yet the authorities did nothing (unlike the Discovery) According to a report in Private Eye, looking at it's prospectus, the place should never have got a licence!

An update on the Discovery school closure. I saw an item on southern TV news last week. Parents and children of the school travelled to Downing Street to hand in a petition requesting the school stay open. Parents said they are very satisfied with the school. The children were interviewed too, they seemed very confident and articulate. All were white and sounded middle class. One of their complaints was the newly appointed headteacher was only given 12 days to implement new measures. Says it all really, Al-madinha school meanwhile rumbles on...........

Anyone know what was the reasons given that the Discovery school was not satidfactory?

Why, an elementary bit of googling will reveal the whole sorry tale:-

As for the views of parents, take a look at the breakdown of 94 parent views received by Ofsted on the statement "my child is taught well at this school":-
