Hi Barbara & welcome to this thread,
Thank you for posting this unfortunate news about the theft of your patio furniture. On the positive side, there should now be the new security in place - which we do pay for in our intercommunity fees.
On our duplex, we did check all the indoor taps (no outside terrace taps for upstairs apartments) and u-bends for leaks. Sure enough, the kitchen and upstairs ensuite sinks were leaking. Fadesa sorted this.
Regards,
Carol

Hiya Barbara & Mike

Welcome and thanks for your posting, just to add to Carol's posting to say how sorry I am too to hear about the problems with the tap/water and the theft of your furniture, that's so awful.

Hiya too to John and Kath, re your comments about the bus service. I would like to think there would be a service but agree with you that it is unlikely. It just wouldn't make economic sense for the bus company to service a virtual sprawling ghost town which, until more people purchase and folks start to move in to live there, will be the case. Having said that those reasons apply to a supermarket too as you wonder how a business could justify having a shop selling food with a short shelf life in an area that has low occupancy. But it seems we are getting one-thank goodness. It's a bit of a "chicken and egg" scenario...which comes first. Would be great for a bus to at least make a morning service and return afternoon one for those who do not drive to be able to get to Ayamonte and Canela.

Happy New Year to all on the forum

Kindest Regards

Mel

Hi Les n Lin

This was a big question, and I am sure some of us old Esuri hands have much to say. From my point of view, Fadesa have been the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They NEVER respond to letters, they NEVER respond to e mails, my house is now a year overdue, and since purchasing it I have only had one letter from them, back in November 05, to say that the house was ready, which is wasn't, and is still not .... as far as I know.
Having said that, I am sure that Esuri will be quite something when the dust settles. I have kept the faith because I love the area, and I am sure that the end product will proove to have been a good buy.
I am visiting site between the 14th and 17th Jan. I have written to Fadesa on 3 occasions to ask to view the house and arrange for the keys , but you guessed it... no reply!

As someone said earlier, this is Spain, you will have to relax, and you may have to wait a while, but from what I know of the area, and from what others are saying, the wait will be worth it. I don't think Fadesa are a bad company at heart, they simply have no customer service skills whatsoever. I don't think that Customer is King in Spain!!

I'll try to post some up to date pictures when I return.

Hi All
I couldn't agree more... the Spanish have a lot to learn in after sales service!!! We had a kitchen fitted by 'Mateos' we are very pleased with the units and the workmanship but trying to get a small replacement part is proving impossible!! I did manage to pick a couple up from some guys fitting new display kitchens in our local B&Q they had them as part of their kit. I will keep hounding Mateos until they come up with some too!! I work in retail and we have to work to a very high standard of after sales liability in the U.K. which costs us money. The Spanish have to get better!! At the moment it is unfair competition. As for 'Health and Safety' they are nowhere near our standards. Which again is very costly to us in the U.K.

Regarding a bus service.

It depends on the official population of your town - in this case Ayamonte. The full ins and outs I don't know, but I do know that once a town reaches the magic number of 20.000 inhabitants, the council can get an "around town" service. For example, Lepe around 5 years ago had just the basic town-to-town service. Now, with an official population around 25.000 they have a more complete service.

Officially Ayamonte has just under 18.000 people but the unofficial estimate puts it just over 20.000. When the next figures are released you'll see the official figure rise to around 20.000. When this happens - I imagine it has something to do with Junta funding - the council could look into setting up a number of bus routes. They set up a short-lived service from Pozo del Camino to Ayamonte but it was cancelled as there were no takers and it was completely funded by the council. Even in an election year, I doubt the council will be keen on spending money funding a bus service - which local people, the vast majority of the electorate, don't consider a priority. They are car users. And whether it is right or wrong, Esuri and indeed Canela are seen as places for the "rich outsiders" - if they can afford to live there they can afford to buy a car or get a taxi etc..... it's that sort of mentality.

Isla Cristina whose population is 19.500 but is expected to rise to 21.000 when figures are released this year have expressed an interest in setting up a regular "around town" service which would also benefit the neighbouring Islantilla, Redondela and Pozo. It is hoped to have something in place for the height of summer.

I fear Ayamonte may take a little longer if they can't get funding. Could be an opportunity for a budding entrepreneur??????

You might get a bus service that runs in the summer only, we have one here, seems to run July to Mid Sept. only.. There is one on the main road here which is the Cartagena to Alicante service, but the round the urbanisations service is summer only.

Hi Chris,

Clubhouse looks quite cosy. What time IS it open to, and what's the grub like?

Looks like I need some flat, pebble shaped balls to negotiate that par 3.

Default Good new about having a drink

Hi all
This will probable interest some of you
We heard from a VERY good source that there wil be a bar & restaurant in the small commercial centre up the top of the hill later this year
Also there is a large Irish style bar/restaurant planned for the main commercial centre when it is completed
As usual believe it when you see it but I know the licence has been applied for the smaller one
They were working on the main centre under flood lights last week at 9 PM

Regards

Hi Chris
We got there at 9 .00 ( first off) & the bar/restaurant was about to open
The menus are not in English ( any day now) we had club sanwiches & burgers
The draft beer is Matou
We had left by then but I believe the club house was going to shut at 19.00
The prices were reasonable

Default my opinion of C E course 1

Hi all
Me again
This is my personal opinion of the course
I have a copy of the card & handicap index if anyone is interested

The course is long 6099 metres of the yellows, but the whites are not much longer
Most fairways are wide we did not loose a ball untill the 12th
There are buggies but we walked ( which I much prefere) & it was not to demanding on the legs
The round cost 46 euros including a trolley
We were told the green fees were being reviewed when the new club house is open ? ( I don't think I would pay any more at the moment)
Loved the greens very true nice pace & the ball held when you hit then.
There was plenty of labour working on the course planting trees ,& installing the hole legends on the Tees etc.
I find it hard to believe the amount of pitch marks on the greens all ready
We repaired divots on most grees

The 100 & 150 markers are all ready there
I was pleased to say the way the course is laid out the villas being built are well back from the fairways
I don't like playing golf when I am more worried about some ones windows than the bunkers
I thought the course was ideal for the average golfer
It is a typical new course
I am not sure if low handicap golfers will enjoy it
There faiways need another year or two to mature & there were lots of areas of stones & flint ,sand & drainage holes close to & on the fairwars
Being as ours was a friendly game we played pick & place.
If you are going to play the game properly & play the ball were it lays be prepared to damage your clubs

If any one has any questions please ask ,as I said this is a personal opinion & I don't want to get involved with people asking if I actually know anything about the game

Regards

Chris

Thanks for the info Chris.

I dunno what others think, maybe I'm getting old (actually there's no maybe about it), but why do all bars have to be themed these days. Why can't they just have a bar that happens to be run by an Irishman instead of an Irish bar? You just know they'll start showing Hurling or Gaelic Football or some of the other celtic minority kack on the telly, only sell umpteen varieties of stout and have Riverdance or Daniel O'Donnell blaring out of the stereo. Just for the Craik! - I think I'll give it a miss.

Hi Ragomuffin,
My thoughts entirely why can't we have a Spanish Bar and restaurant in our commercial centre in Spain?

Regards,

John.
