I should have learned by now to avoid feeding trolls. But OK, now that you admit it, I feel a bit vindicated.

It seems fairly obvious that many expats haven't even the faintest clue what is happening right under their noses in Spain.
Maybe if they put their DM to one side and followed the Spanish news they would be a little wiser.
Uncontrolled secretly arranged bottle parties out of town and out of reach of the authorities have become increasingly popular amongst Spanish youngsters these past few years.
Youngsters of any age can go along and drink spirits till it runs out of their ears.
There have been several cases of kids as young as twelve years old being taken to hospital totally comatosed.
Knife fights resulting in serious injuries have become increasingly common.
The Spanish govt has been expressing its concern regarding the worsening situation for the past few years, but other than increasing the age limit for drinking which obviously has no effect if there is no supervision, up till now there is little they have been able to do.
Of course such incidents are of little interest to the UK tabloids unless Brits are involved and its obviously a case of out of sight out of mind as far as many on here are concerned.

Whilst booze can play a part in unacceptable behaviour it can often be the lack of tolerance to it. The Irish for example can often down a load of beer but just have a good laugh and sing song whilst SOME. ( but not all) Brits simply can't hold their drink and after a few beers think they are gonna fight everyone!!!

The Brits followed by the Germans seem to consume the most of the beer and spirits on the island. Shame, because there are some truly fab wines to enjoy. But on the other hand, the fact that the tourists ignore it leaves more for me and keeps the price to a minimum.

Grayling clearly delights in exposing this. We all have our ideas and prejudices about other nationalities gleaned from others we know and the ever pervasive media. I fear you are on a hiding to nothing.

I don't know if it's different elsewhere in Spain (it probably is) but in my experience, the locals are the least likely to engage in such things. They don't even seem to have much appetite for drinking (well, wine with every meal of course, but not binge drinking). They do like their smoke though (I'm not referring to tobacco). And as for crime - well, that seems to be mostly in the expat and tourist areas.

Binge drinking amongst young Spaniards has increased at an alarming rate in recent years and is a major cause for concern.
It is easy to find drunken Brits because they are always in full public view and letting their hair down on holiday as is the norm.
Furthermore the areas they frequent are well patrolled by the police who can take whatever action is needed at short notice.
Naturally most of the Spanish kids involved being local, keep well below the radar as they would soon be in trouble with parents or police if they did their binge drinking in public.
The secretly arranged bottle parties that very few except those in the know ever see are a far bigger danger with very young kids having uncontrolled access to strong spirits and no law enforcement officers on hand when trouble breaks out as it often does with regard to disputes and fights over the women etc.

Basically you're saying that Irish can hold their beer and Brits or other Brits can't.
What a load of bigoted tosh.
They get equally as drunk and act equally as stupid as anyone else.
I often used to sit outside a bar on an evening opposite an Irish bar in Benidorm where most of the republicans congregated just for the entertainment of watching their hilarious attempts to stay on their feet and try to help each other stagger home after way too many pints of porter black and when it came to Paddies day it was like world war three with most of them already comatosed and laid all over the pavements by the middle of the afternoon.

Lol Dick I think you're the one having a laugh- maybe you're pissed now !!!
Remind me which country is notorious/ laughed at above all others for the drunken state/ conduct of their lager louts/ fball fans!!
Three tins of lager and they're gonna beat the world whilst other nations including Ireland and Scotland can travel in numbers, have a beer or two and a laugh without the gobby attitude.
A few shandys and the males turn into comical Ukip nutters and drop their iq whilst the females drop their knickers!! Cheers!!!
It must be cringe worthy for the vast majority of their fellow countrymen watching these imbeciles disgrace themselves

That coming from a Brit that was raised in a typical Essex family - of humble means, clinging to very liberal values. In fact, I used to be the stereotypical Brit, too. Until I left - and realised that the world actually doesn't revolve around Britain, that everything not British isn't shite, and that much of what I'd been led to believe was incredibly narrow-minded - precisely what we seem to love to accuse everyone else of.
Just to clarify - there are a lot of things I respect about the UK - and certainly not all Brits are ignorant and arrogant. There are plenty of testaments to that right here.
But the poster you refer to clearly embodies the worst of ignorant arrogance the world has to offer. I have no sympathies for such people.
No doubt he'll be back to spew more of it shortly.
