Avoid the British when on holiday
I don't know if it's getting worse, but there seem to be more and more reports of people trying to avoid areas where Brits go on holiday. The Germans like to party too, but in the German media they are saying hotels are getting bad ratings on Tripadvisor (especially Mallorca), if there are too many English.
Here one example (German Daily Mail:-) of Hotel Alcúdia, but still not great advertisement for British youngsters. Das schlimmste Hotel Mallorcas: „Das Schlimmste sind die Engländer!“ - News Ausland - Bild.de And recently a German tourist was beaten to death by two British tourists. |
Re: Avoid the British when on holiday
We recently spent a night in a resort which has become very popular with hen and stags parties from the UK.
This will be the last time we go there. What was once an area popular with families and groups of all ages , sadly now bar owners have given themselves over to groups of drunken Brits who can be seen at all hours of the day. Nudity and other drunken acts have become common place. The local residents and the more discerning business owners are now campaigning against this trend. Fortunately where we have our home in Portugal is not one that appeals to these groups, Spain, Portugal in fact anywhere in Europe Brits are getting a bad reputation. The airline staff are facing abuse when they try to impose a limit on alcohol sales we have seen girls staggering onto flights at 7.30am.Maybe controls should start at the airport, who needs to get drunk at 6.00am . |

Re: Avoid the British when on holiday
Could be sensationalism, but I can say from experience that British tourists have become the least liked around here. There could be a number of reasons why (not all of them worthy), but there is a certain arrogance that Brits too oft exhibit, and it rubs people the wrong way.
Used to be the Germans, but the Germans seem to have become a lot less arrogant & aggressive in the past few years. Now they are the ones everybody loves. |

Re: Avoid the British when on holiday
There are often murders committed by British people in bars in La Cala de Mijas and Calahonda.
They are two of the most dangerous neighbourhoods in Spain, and majority British |

Of course it is much more fun to look down on your own countrymen, just because you have moved to some cheap third world country, which obviously makes you superior:lol:
