For sheer loudness look no further than the Spanish themselves, all continually shouting on top of each other with no one having a clue what they are shouting about.
I reckon a bar with only half a dozen drunken Spaniards in it generates more noise than a bar packed solid with any other nationality.

I have no idea why three middle aged, perfectly normal, decent and sober Spanish men have to stand two feet from each other yelling into each others faces.
It happened a lot usually to the amusement, but sometimes annoyance, of my other customers.
