Avoid the British when on holiday

Actually, I'm surrounded by a lovely lot. They just don't happen to be all Brits. Or even mostly. Really, we only have 2 British couples we really enjoy socialising with. But those 2 have lived abroad for most of their days, too, which leads me back to my original point: Leaving your bubble expands your horizons. I reckon that explains why those who have done so inevitably find more commonality between them, regardless of nationality.
Do you realise that those of us who use the English language find that its origins at least 70% is based on France. Thanks Guillame le Conqueron.
My bubble is France not Spain. Notice you do not touch upon animal cruelty?

Being so obsessed with France, why did you move to Spain - twice!?

Like this you mean ?
The Pain Behind Foie Gras | Animals Used for Food: Factsheets | Animals Used for Food | The Issues | PETA
Not only the French, I see the U.S. is at it as well.

Every nation is "at it". It will never, sadly, go away. Some of it is in the open but most of it is behind closed doors or under the radar. There is no point in hurling insults and accusations, pointing fingers- no country's hands are totally clean- or am I wrong ?

However some countries make a much greater effort than others to clean up their act.
For those who turn a blind eye, continued publicity and campaigning can only help to improve the situation.

but that wouldn't be entirely true and as always there were quite a mixture of opinions expressed.I think the point of most forums and threads is generally an exchange of views, a little expanding of knowledge plus entertainment value.
I think it managed two out of three in that respect, so not too bad.

I could say it was meant to be a bash the Brits thread
but that wouldn't be entirely true and as always there were quite a mixture of opinions expressed.

When I decided to move to Spain I made a conscious effort to locate a property in a prominately Spanish community so that I was forced to live among them, learn their culture and the language.... Sadly 1 month after my move I find the empty property next door is owned by a Brit that come over 2 -3 times a year and the first night they arrived starting beating down my door to complain about the music level despite it could not be heard outside.... I had to politely tell them in my best English to bugger off and take their British attitude with them as I live here and whereas they were complaining, the Spanish had been visiting, loved the music (60's-70's) and made me feel more than welcome.
I thought I had left this type of person behind, sadly however there are too many over here as I found out when I visited the local town hall to check on local noise levels and Spanish law only to find 90% of all noise complaints are made by British ex-pats and Brits on holiday....!

It's often said that the Spanish just love noise, any noise, can't get enough of it.
They pride themselves on who can make the most noise at fiesta or Fallas time when the mascletas are in progress from morning to night.
Dogs barking all day and all night are often a problem for most Brits, yet the Spanish generally ignore it and seem to look on it as the norm.
They'll often choose to live in a house on a busy noisy street in preference to a peaceful spot.
Shame to fall out with your neighbours, though if they're not there often it's not so bad.
Good neighbours can be the best asset any property has and I thank my lucky stars I've been blessed in that respect.

No surprise, totally different cultures.
