Home Secretary = HS
One = I
Can't quite get the "busy for all to see", but the "occupying" means that the foregoing bits go inside HS, and the answer is a synonym for interregnum.

Hello all, it's been a few months but just to give you all an update. I don't know how to paste previous multiple posts, but if you remember I asked for the name of a stage play with 'Washer- or round object ' as the clue. WarHorse as many of you said was indeed the correct answer. Thank you. And the one I went for despite my reservations. Unfortunately I didn't win, but it's all for charity and a good cause.
Rambling a bit here, and I do think I've been slightly hard done by, but the question that got me was.: What number is associated with 'Bobby Jones at old St. Andrews?' I should add, and I missed this 'numbers do not have to be whole numbers'.

Probably "2", being his famous double-eagle 2 on the fourth in the Open in 1930. But it's a big vague.

Nope. Not 2. I should also add it's not a cryptic clue.

'What number is associated with Bobby Jones at Old St Andrews?'. (Clue...from me, answer is actually a fraction).

It's ridiculously vague. Could be:
1921: His first appearance there
11: The hole he stopped at on his first appearance there
1927: Year he won the Open there
1930: Year he won the British Amateur there

The correct answer was actually 0.1. All the holes on the old course are individually named. The tenth is Bobby Jones. I put 10 but the quizmaster wanted 'the tenth' ie 1/10 or 0.1. How hard was I done by there!

That's half-cryptic and half-daft.

Its been a while but here's a couple

Chef who speaks for rabbit and pig (5)
B****

Top setter upset about greeting (3,5)

*E*/****T

Ahead of time ordering a new cured ham? Certainly not! (8)

U*D***C* (the 'c' maybe wrong)

Top setter...

Meaning: Top
Construction 1: setter upset = anagram of setter
Construction 2: about greeting = anagram of setter is situated around a (2-letter) greeting

Ahead of time...has got to be underact, but I can't retrofit it yet.

Chef = brear?

Underact is correct-anagram of cured-A & N for a new- T for time
Ham's don't underact-certainly not!

"N" for new is a bit weak (not your reasoning, the setter's), but yes it fits.

Mayhap this is a bit weak :) but we do the Telegraph Cryptic every day-they often use the"n" from new :blink:
