Simpler than we (or at least, I) thought:

Spoiler:
Carla

Woman (ie woman's name) involved in international racket getting "hauled up" (ie backwards)

I was going down the CIA route too...

Thanks guys, I had 'restraint' but couldn't make it fit with the others. Charites is obscure but non the less valid.

The 'Carla' answer, well what can I say like my friend I was too focused on CIA

Hope you guys enjoy these little teasers

Yeah, keep 'em coming. Long time since I've done a cryptic crossword. My father introduced me to them some 40 years ago, used to do the Telegraph regularly...

Not doing very well today. Not quite sure where my brain is.

Try these
1) Game that's possible with youth I'm bleeping. (4,3,7)

2)Jet-hued novel? (4,3,7)

3) Prohibition's no go - crooked tsars arrest men in abundance. (13)

4) Shell fresh peas, sharing alternately with student. (8)

2) novel works in two ways here. First, to indicate an anagram, second as a synonym for the third word.

Spoiler:
Jude The Obscure

This one is very devious. I admit to cheating and looking it up via google, I wouldn't have got it in a month of sundays.

Spoiler:
Shrapnel - anag 'peas + (s)h(a)r(i)n(g)' (alt letters) + 'l(earner)'

Got the anagram of peas and the "L" but was struggling where to get the other letters from, and was totally thrown by "shell"--was fixated on a shellfish. Yeah, really devious.

Cheers guys. I saw the thimble bit but I've never heard of the game.

Should have got Jude...

Never would have got Shrapnel.

A bad day all round

Yep. Vote = poll. To finish = end, which if you "cut" becomes en.

Two left today.

In dry home in secure environment (7)

B*T*I***

A society beset by money-grubbing ethos may be smeared (7)

**E*S*D

The last letter of the first is the first of the second.

I thought the second might be 'greased' and have no idea whatsoever with the first one.
