Yeah, that's better than Austin!

Berganders. Which is a real bastard of a clue: another name for the sheldrake (type of duck), well known for pairing and their black and white plummage.

A real b***** as you say, A bit too obscure. I could have come up with a couple of slightly easier clues. But hey ho.

You're getting your clues mixed up. Elopement is "op" (work) in "element" (tin being an example of a chemical element).

I think you're right about overdo, in that ham acting is typified by actors overdoing things.

You're right, I was getting mixed up. They do scramble your brain sometimes these cryptic clues.

I keep thinking tswana here - I lived in Botswana and tswana is both the language and a tribe. Could be way off of course ;-)
