Hi everyone
Last time we were in CE I spotted a small notice in the shop which I think was advertising 'pay as you go' broadband, but unfortunately I didn't stop long enough to make notes. Does anyone know any details please? Have you tried it out? Any information would be much appreciated.
Many thanks
Sue

Priinet are offering a wireless internet connection to Costa Esuri as well as parts of Ayamonte and Isla Canela. It's as near PAYG as you'll get at the moment. They have a number of packages which offer different speeds and/or telephone/mobile. These are charged at a monthly fee which ranges from 20€ upwards (for whole indivisible months) WHILE YOU ARE USING THE SERVICE!, when you are not using the service you can pay 7€ per month retainer. There is a setup charge of 69€ for the box/aerial and an optional WIFI router at 20€. Their accounting month seems to be fixed at 5th to 4th (which can be a bit awkward timingwise)
Of course, if you want IPTV then you will need another box, either a Smart TV; a PC, an Android box etc etc.
At the moment Priinet are in the "early adopter" phase, which means that service does not have full coverage and can be of variable consistency - but it is getting better and they seem to be working hard to get it all good. There are obviously a load of commercial questions but it does look very promising.
There is another provider - Guadiana TV - but I have no knowledge of them, perhaps someone else can help?
I think this is all correct but if not then I'm sure someone will provide corrections

Note: I have no commercial relationship and this is essentially a summary of information in previous posts.

It's what the last few pages have been all about.

Thanks so much for that comprehensive summary -we will be out again at the end of August and hopefully will be able to sort something out.

How are the PriInet problems going. I reverted to Iberbanda when the download and up load speeds dropped so low that upload could not be measured. Iberbanda is slow but both down and up are the same and it is there 99% of the time. Still got the equipment but it I just coiled up and not used. They had also not sorted the landline number and free UK minutes any news on that one. I think I must email or phone Jorge to either take it away or sort it. This has been going on for 2 months now and we have all been very patient but I am sure they will start charging soon and then we will have 2 BB bills to pay.

However we are (will be) paying for a proper 6MB/10MB service... and the speedtest they use is insufficient to measure the one thing I really want: Streaming SD TV (for now) and later Streaming HD video... AT ANY TIME.
So I caution people re the speed readings. See my previous posts for my speedtest, which is more indicative of the 'real-world' requirement.
I contracted the 10MB service to give me cover in busy times though 6MB should be good for that now. This is my heaviest usage, so if I can get that it will cover every other internet need I have personally. So I dont care about absolute speeds etc.
BUT it has to give me this. So it has to have the CAPACITY to deliver it in busy times too (eg Evening peak; Corrie etc). Squeezing the end of a hosepipe makes the water go faster - but no extra volume. Priinet need a much bigger pipe!
Right now I get it a lot of the time, but not all of the time, and last night I updated priinet. Their test showed 2.3MBs - which should have been OK... but my test showed .25-.45MBS which explained why I wasn't getting a TV signal.... or could not Skype properly either.
Its CAPACITY I need - not just SPEED alone. (Though both are needed for TV any time) I am in regular contact with them and they have assured me that this is what they will deliver. So as its no (extra) cost and they have been very responsive -I am giving them time. Though I must admit was frustrated when I couldn't Skype last night (audio only - no video) and had to pay roaming charges on my mobile.
Since we are not paying Priinet I would advise holding out as you will lose the installation costs.... and they assure me that upgrades are going to happen, so I think its worth hanging on before pulling out of a 'free' contract (IMO). They say its only in CE that this happens - so need better equipment for us... which they are installing this week ... but knowing these things I am giving them another week at least.

Hi John many people are happy with Priinet, as the current service does most things.

I had priinet installed last week. As Jon says service is OK for browsing but not suitable for streaming from my slingbox in the UK. Speeds in the morning were around 3 but in the late afternoon/evenings fell to around 0.6/0.7. I hope they can resolve the speed/capacity problem as I (like Jon) opted for the 10Mb service to try and ensure I got a minimum level of service that was sufficient for streaming.
Incidentally, my neighbour has priinet also. His unit points towards Las Colinas whereas mine (on the same pole) points towards the shop in Lomas de Esuri - around 80 degrees difference in angle.
Whilst in CE last week I found video quality of Apple Facetime far superior to Skype.

They use Speedtest.net by Ookla - The Global Broadband Speed Test for speed testing, but I think this is not relevant in the 'real world'. It also presents the maximum speed over its test.
I use TestMy.net Broadband Internet Speed Test as this actually down/up loads data and measures the time taken. A far better 'real world' check.
I haven't had the chance to test this in peak time yet though... but its clear that things have improved. I ran this great video yesterday
If I am in tonight at 'peak time' - I'll run the test again... but at first glance it looks good.
The most important test will be tonight and
that it will work!Jon

Priinet contacted me to say that they have finished their upgrades. Some tweaking to do still. I've been testing this and its clear that they have improved capacity and speed.

I ran this great video yesterday â–º Planet Earth: Amazing nature scenery (1080p HD) - YouTube (1080p full HD video - many more at youtube) at the same time as my slingbox TV on another browser.... both were streaming well at the same time.

However looking at my test results, it does appear that they have sussed it. But of course it NEEDS to work in peak hours, where I havent tested it.
Would anyone volunteer to check it tonight, and perhaps over the weekend evenings please, if you are in? I am booked up!
I suggest 3 windows - one running the youtube link in my last post and another running say filmon TV... at the same time: And another with my speed test a couple of times.
If so please could you post the results, please?
Jon

Using this speed tester for download and upload speeds
The Gadget Show | Broadband Speed Test
I getting approx. 5.5 download and 2.5 upload.
This is double what I have been getting, but will test again tonight to see if dips significantly.

Thanks for that.
I have seen a great improvement too. May I ask you to test also the streaming video, as well as a speedtest, please?. I am a bit dubious about the tests and in the end the requirement is to get good quality streaming video .. which 'looks good'
Thanks

This was when the download was around 2 or sometimes less in the evenings.
Hopefully with this upgrade the quality should be so much better.I will run one of those tonight along with your video and see what happens

OK
So I ran BBC I player and Jon's video at the same time around 2000 hours last night and both seemed to work OK.
I also tested the download and upload speeds using the tester I mentioned in an earlier post, and here are the results.
Time Download Upload
2015 4.31 2.36
2030 2.92 2.45
2045 3.44 2.21
2100 4.34 2.34
2115 4.45 2.47
2145 3.28 2.43
Perhaps someone else could do something similar tonight , to compare.
The speed this morning is 5.08 down and 2.47 up
