From the highest south facing vantage point in your Casa can you see the big green mast in the middle of the fish farm? If you can the you could get iberbanda. If not then it has to be via a Portuguese mobile mast and there are three on the other bank and you should be able to see one of those. In any case if your mobile phone has a manual network search facility turn that on and when a list of available networks comes up see which is the strongest signal (most bars). It could be TMN then Jon BX has posted reams on how to get and use their mini router with a broadband only sim. Or it might be Vodafone PT and on the same thread you will find how to get one of those. You then just buy air time to activate the sim and off you go. If you are very lucky you might just get a 4G signal then you would put us all to shame for internet speed but it would cost a little more.
In the past the MEO 3G signal from Portugal was stronger than the Vodafone signal. You could try a MEO SIM in your mifi box - will only cost 10euros from one of the MEO shops in VRSA and you get 10 hours allowance. Probably no use for IPTV but adequate for most other internet purposes.

Is anyone using a Smart DVD/Blu-ray recorder/player as their IPTV gateway on Priinet (or any other internet link)?
I have seen all the android advice and if I can't find a Smart solution I will go with one of those. But, I have a load of DVDs and Blu-ray we bring to watch and we need a new Blu-ray player anyway. I've been looking at specs and reviews for LG, Samsung, Sony, etc - and I know that Costco have some good prices.
But, I'm totally confused by some of the reviews. For example, the Samsung has the widest range of built in Apps, including IPlayer, ITVplayer etc etc. It claims to have a full browser capability, but nobody has said if you can set up a VPN/DNS on it and the reviews say that its Wifi is rubbish. LG on the other hand has good Wifi but far fewer apps etc. Should I get a player only or can I record streaming IPTV on a recorder device? Nobody seems to know.
Any one have any practical knowledge and advice I would be eternally grateful.

I have a Sony BD player which is connected to the Internet. It's a couple of years old and doesn't have the TV catch up apps. Samsung TVs have the full range of catch up apps, so it is no surprise that they have them on the BD player. Mine is on a wired connection via home plugs.
Changing DNS shouldn't be a problem. It's easy on the Samsung TVs and the only device I have come across where you can't get at the DNS settings is the Now TV box. For that I had to change the DNS settings in the router which is also pretty easy.
Incidentally, the NowTV box is the best solution I have come across for UK catchup. It has all four broadcasters, plus ITV 1,2 and 3 live. It now has C4 live.

I was keen on the Samsung until I saw some reviews (on more than 1 review site) about how good it was at apps but c..p at IP comms - unless anyone can tell me different.

Hi I was wondering what the most recent & best internet/wifi company and the relative costs would be for Las Colinas. My friends down at Marina Esuri use a VPN line and have told me that it's ok for wifi but the TV signal buffers quite a lot any advice would be appreciated. We are not out there all year but visit about 4 times a year.

1 off charge of 60Euros + 20 Euros(returnable at end of contract) for a router. This gives you the first 3months of service.
Thereafter they have 3 levels of service depending on the capacity you want which range from 15E to 25E per month. Note: this is for whole months and is indivisible - priinet's months runs from 5th to 4th so if you have a week at the end of 1 month and a week at the start of the next you pay for 2 months - crazy but that's how they work.
If you want to suspend your account while you're not there then you pay a standing charge of 7E pm.
priinet will usually do a free survey and signal strength test for you.
If you read back through this thread then you will read through all the teething difficulties but I believe that the service is pretty stable now, although there are the odd glitches. Plenty of info here.
I think this is the latest position but I'm sure a current user will give you the latest any minute

BTW - what do they mean a VPN line? Is it a landline with a VPN services? I think the broadband signals from Movistar over a landline is a bit rubbish on CE as we are so far from an exchange or repeater cab. Movistar say there is not enough demand to add more at the moment and nobody knows how long it will be before fibre optic reaches Ayamonte. They could try a smartDNS service which doesn't load the comms quite as much as VPN and can be found at similar prices.

We are on Las Colinas and use Priinet. We watch TV through Filmon and although very occasionally it buffers, most of the time it is fine. We pay €20 per month: it could be reduced but we are there so often that we have never been able to take advantage of this. We would recommend them. One thing to be aware, when installing they will need access to the roof so if you are on one of the lower floors you may need to see if a neighbour will help. We were fortunate that on the day they came to install ours, the neighbour with the roof terrace was in.

Try this for TV.. Camposat.Tv
However it is a much nicer front-end than filmon IMO.
