If this was a set up by the maid, then I hope she goes to Jail for ever and a day.
At the very least she should get what he would have got had he been found guilty, plus the maximum sentance for perjury.

I like how everyone has said things like "money talks" without even seeing the irony of that statement.

The Maid had worked there 3 years, wonder why it hadn't happened before. He won't have been the only rich philanderer staying there
None of you even give a thought to the possibility that she may have been set up by money being placed in her bank account. You had made up your minds about it from the very beginning hadn't you

As I said from the beginning, this is another case of the media telling us what we should think and like sheep we all followed suit... nice.

No actually, unlike a lot of people who had made their minds up that he had ACTUALLY done it... some of us advised caution in jumping to conclusions, but that wasn't offered to him was it? The perp walk, every single newspaper painting him as a womanising animal, christ, most people just assumed he was going to spend a lot of time in jail... now people are questioning the integrity of her its a different matter!

They screamed about him, perhaps this will bring balance.
Jacky, perhaps she has blackmailed some before who stayed quiet? Ever thought of that?

According to a report I read, the maid could find herself doing time for perjury and also possibly money laundering.
I wonder how an identical case would have panned out in the UK ?
For instance surely the CPS would have refrained from deciding whether Strauss had a case to answer until such time as the maids story had been fully checked out and they felt fairly certain that there was sufficient indisputable supporting evidence.
Also, even had a charge been made, would all these details about the maids actions and previous background have been as freely available under our sub-judice laws.
In the US all the sordid details are hung out to dry like dirty washing, long before the trial ever begins and Joe Public has already decided what the verdict should be.
Even so, as we have seen in the OJ and Jackson trials the judge and jury can easily be persuaded otherwise.

I have the same distaste for "justice" in some of the UK's SFO actions, informing the media they are going to raid a particular company and or directors and there are 6 tv vans outside filming the goings on.
Perhaps that was a "leak" from a bent copper but to my mind unacceptable.

No-one will ever know the truth, the same a with most high profile cases. I bet most of the jurors in any major trial have made up their mind before the proceedings begin. Look at all the wrangling as to who killed abducted M.McCann, always going to be 2 points of view.

Should such a dubious story have originated from her side of the family,(it certainly wouldnt have come from the defendant), the ulterior motives are fairly obvious.

Well there you go believing what you want to believe, like all of us. The media doesn't seem to be making a big thing of it...how did you reach that conclusion when it is in most of the papers? Or do you mean it is not a big thing for you
Cherry picking the bits you want and dismissing the rest.

Wasn't there a case a few years ago here in Spain where some English footballers at a training camp near Mar Menor were accused of rape by a couple of women from Nigeria? Who were later found to be prostitutes who had told nothing but lies?
Rape is a horrible crime, but women do sometimes lie about it to extract money from wealthy people, especially if they come from poor backgrounds where it is common to lie your way out of poverty.

Maybe there were some genuine cases, but offhand I personally can't recall any prosecutions and convictions.
There again maybe the accusers were all paid off, eh Jacky ?

Top notch footballers aren't exactly known for being the sharpest pencils in the box off the park.
If they had any sense they'd always take a minder with them when going for a night out on the pull. Hopefully it wouldn't affect their performance too much, after all they're well used to performing in public anyway.

Case finally dismissed, unreliable witness.
Apart from lying about her background, the maid apparently changed her story just after the incident, if there ever was an incident of any note that is.
Likely we'll ever know.
Strauss is left to pick up the pieces of the upset to his life and his broken ambitions.
I expect he'll be very wary of getting frisky with hotel maids in the future.
