Hi All
Having been through the process myself I am now supporting someone I've recruited through the 119 process. Nomination submitted/acknowledged 10th May, approved late June and application (frontloaded) submitted mid May acknowledged 10th May - still waiting.

Re: Anyone got RSMS Visa
I work in the public sector in NSW, so our HR department deal with the nomination side but as I will manage the person we are sponsoring I did all the legwork in getting the paperwork together and making sure the applicant did all the right things at the right time.
Hope things are good with you and you're still living the dream.

Re: Anyone got RSMS Visa
Hi all, very interesting reading your posts as I have started looking into the RSMS visa. Hope you don't mind me posting on this thread but it would be helpful for me for any reassurances or info ppl can give me on my situation.
The story so far:
*Applied for a working holiday visa to move with my girlfriend to Aus (both british citizens) Originally the plan was to live and work for six months, see if the lifestyle suited us then kat would apply for a 175 but then immi took primary teaching off the skills list so we were pretty gutted!
*I secured a full time job 3 months before leaving the Uk as a car parts interpreter
*Moved to Aus 6 weeks ago
*My employer didn't realise the working holiday visa has a 6 month restriction so asked HR to email a migration agent to ask if it was possible to waive the 6 month limit so I can continue working there
*Migration agent replied saying i could apply to have it waived after a temporary business visa or a RSMS visa was lodged
*I did some research on the immi website then emailled the agent asking if my job as a car parts interpreter with an apprenticeship completed in scotland would make me eligible for this visa
*She replied saying the rsms would be 'appropriate' for me and would be 'preferable' to the temporary business visa
I have printed out the info and forms to discuss with my boss on monday but just wonder if i am even eligible as most visas have a set list of jobs but I don't see a job list for the RSMS??? Don't even know at this point in time if my company will want to sponsor me!!! Don't know how they will feel about making an application to the regional certifying body and paying any associated fees. Also don't know if the regional certifying body would approve me job!!! Or if my apprenticeship would be accredited as being 'diploma level'. So many ifs & buts!!!
I'm at the very early stage of looking into the RSMS so any thoughts based on your own experience would be gladly appreciated Thanks

Re: Anyone got RSMS Visa
There is indeed a list somewhere or other of jobs. This is a list of just about all jobs Australia can think of. They then put them into catagories. To get a RSMS visa the job has to be in catagory 1-4. If it isn't then it doesn't matter even if it DOES need a diploma for your actual job if the job is not there. They will try to fit you into the closest one, which could be nothing like what you are actually doing.
That was the problem I had a couple of years ago. Now that I am going a different route they have added a nec catagory to my general field that would have let me apply for RSMS back then, had it existed. The industry DID say they would contact immigration to point out that there was a huge shortage of staff for this very specialised job, this is obviously how long it takes to actually get it added (this was after two places trying to sponsor me, one from my being in the UK which it seems is quite unusual, so shows just how much it is needed).
Good luck.
Have you thought of getting a rsms visa for your partner? That might be easier to get.

Re: Anyone got RSMS Visa
Yes I agree with Jan. I've got 4 months to go to complete my two years and its gone so quick I cant believe it. Seemed like an eternity when i first started but now its nearly done and then I am free to do as I please and live/work where I like.
