Re: Newcastle NSW

I live in an apparently "very nice area" (9.2 on Homely) and yet a couple of months ago when I was home alone a meth head tried to break into my house with a fence post - he was ranting and raving...

Re: Newcastle NSW

Ha, rabble_rouser, I think you have hit the 3-year wall! I can relate to a lot of what you write about Newcastle but I think it only tells half the story, and the gloomy half at that. Definitely...

Re: Nursing Oversupply

I have just qualified as a nurse and can confirm the unis are pumping out way too many of us and the competition for new grad spots is fierce: I heard that 50% of new grad program applicants were...

Re: Guilt of leaving behind your parents

Alas, not so young these days - a decade passes so quickly!

Yes, I am haunted by the bear hug my dad gave me. Going to see him soon though - first trip back in six years soon! And solo, woo hoo!

Re: Guilt of leaving behind your parents

It's a Catch-22 though surely, as now that have kicked up such a fuss about you going and would see you not take the opportunity, then the relationship is injured anyway.

My dad definitely did not...

Re: Guilt of leaving behind your parents

I have terrible guilt about leaving my dad. I don't know how to reconcile with that. I have lots of other siblings tho and they have produced grandchildren to lessen my guilt a bit! My bloody mother...

Re: 4 Years and Still Struggling

Hey elonii, we're Kiwis in Oz just going through the arduous process of trying to obtain PR. We have health service nomination so don't need the skills assessment and a few other things are easier...

Re: Ridiculous NZ Motorhome / Campervan hire costs

Marvellous! I hope you have a glorious holiday X I think it's been almost 20 years since we went to Queenstown and Wanaka too! We did a lovely walk near Wanaka with our then 4 year old and made the...

Re: Ridiculous NZ Motorhome / Campervan hire costs

Ah, that's true. Our journey to SE Queensland is mainly straight with cruise control on so we just listen to audio books etc., but it's still a killer!

Re: Ridiculous NZ Motorhome / Campervan hire costs

Bevs, is just bombing it down in one day, spending 5 days exploring then bombing back not an option? Then you would have your own car, which is a massive cost saving. My sense of distance has changed...

Re: Ridiculous NZ Motorhome / Campervan hire costs

I agree with this wholeheartedly. And the motels will be full of campervans because it's actually a bit horrible unless conditions are perfect. The only bonus is being able to free camp in remote...

Hi OP, search the forum and read up online about registering in NZ and then using the transtasman. I don't know if this is still possible but certainly it still was up until recently when NZ were...

Re: Sick relatives what to do????

Yes, this. Get the ticket and go see your dad. Your partner will forgive you (unless there's something quite wrong about him/her) but you may never forgive yourself if you don't.

Re: Coles have reversed their plastic bags decision, will start handing them out

Ha, if you go to the Farmer's Market all the cool people have cool variations of this. You can buy them from the expensive foodie- kitchenware shops. I have been coveting one for a while.

Re: Sydney NYE fireworks - Goer or hopeless.

They're amazing. However, we have only done it from the rooftop of my Mum's Woolloomooloo flat. Shit flat, amazing view over harbour bridge. We can't see it all from there, but enough and it's very...

Re: Childs routine jabs and routine adult health checks

I find bulk billing very confusing as my health centre does not actually bulk bill - they have posters up telling us this - yet recently when I go to pay the receptionist says "oh, she's bulk billed...

Re: New Zealand Introducing ETA and Tourism Levy

Re: New Zealand Introducing ETA and Tourism Levy

I wonder if this will result in any changes to the ease with which Australian PRs can enter NZ and gain citizenship?

Re: Strawberries

I don't usually buy them much because the plastic-to-product ratio is a bit insane, but I have been buying *heaps* since everyone lost perspective. Still, feel a bit guilty seeing the punnets stack...
