It's also that the US has regressed. The cost of higher education and healthcare are two big factors.

Social mobility is now actually lower in the US than almost all western European countries (The UK is an exception).

Fertility rate is 2.4 for US hispanics as compared to 1.9 overall. Sure, it's higher, but 2.4 children is hardly a large family.

I see plenty about the costs of illegal immigrants, but nothing in there about the flip side of the equation.

They pay sales taxes. They create demand in the economy. They often subsidize Social Security and Medicare. Sure there are costs, but it's not as one-sided as you suggest.

Immigrants - illegal and otherwise - always get blamed in harder economic times. The same is happening in the UK and elsewhere in Europe right now. And other than stating the blindingly obvious,...

Indeed. And employers will keep hiring them until the penalties and enforcement are strong enough to deter. And money for the latter is actually decreasing.
