Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

Indeed, I suppose one could say the same about markets too. One friend commented to me that the market didn't anticipate the out vote and therefore is probably wrong about the consequences too.

I...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

Honestly, everyone is wasting their time worrying about this now.

I would say now that the UK is simply not going to leave. We bluffed, and they called us. It's game over.

Carswell is still on...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

I recall a few days before the vote posting regarding the mechanics of what actually happens now.

It seems I was absolutely spot on.

Today, Matthew Elliot, head of Vote Leave is saying there is...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

I notice you didn't provide any suggestion as to what parts you might disagree with.

There are some intelligent brexitters. Probably.

But all you've just demonstrated is that you're a ****ing...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

I think it's actually an interesting point.

If Britain votes out, presumably Cameron and Osbourne would go and you'd have Gove and Johnson. Cameron says he will trigger the article 50 which gives...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

There was some great audio I heard the other day, think it was on the news Quiz on radio 4. The interviewer asked the VL spokesman that 'Remain' has all these important organizations and people,...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

The closest analogy I've seen to this whole debacle is the Suez crisis. Brexit would be Britain's economic Suez crisis.

Suez was the point at which a post war UK discovered it no longer had the...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

To be honest, I am already here and so it really doesn't affect me. My mrs is Brazilian, she can easily pass the Portuguese language test for nationality. My kids would then get it too, so they'll...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

That's a headline in the Daily Express. It's also talking about visa free access, that isn't the same as free movement rights, though I doubt the article makes this clear. My wife is from Brazil,...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

Probably worth pointing out that France is, and was then, in the EEC. And so was the UK. Free movement rights for workers is not a new thing, though it has been more clearly reinforced, and...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

Switzerland is also part of the single market, so has to accept free movement of EU nationals, just like the UK does now. Difficult to see how that is relevant to the UK when the overriding argument...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

Not sure if you're aware.... but Clarkson is for 'remain'. In fact, he's uber uber remain, he wants a US of Europe a single army etc. Surprised me too, but he's actually rather pro EU.

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

I think that's true, but it's probably also true for the scottish referendum too. I think there were more people reluctantly voting for the status quo than doing it enthusiastically. The status quo...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

Britain's manufacturing is much diminished now but the figures you're quoting don't include services like banking and insurance where the UK has a big surplus. That's the killer for the UK, because...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

No, it is impossible to have single market access and stop EU immigration. Because it's a fundamental principle of the single market. Single markets simply don't work if everyone can get exemptions...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

That sounds like a conspiracy theory?

My personal view is that the likelihood of a brexit vote must surely be higher than the betting suggests, considering how close the polls are. I don't think...

Re: The Brexit; Are you in or out?

I am still doubtful, even if there is an 'out' vote, that it would ever be enacted.

It would need a government to trigger article 50, which starts a 2 year period of negotiation to leave the EU....

Both sides are now scraping the barrel looking for the most uninformed voters that are left. The kind that scare easily. Both sides have their own project fear, based on complete nonsense.

If it's about ultra-free-market trade deals with the US or expansion of the EU...
