Re: Work Permit Help

You know, Mac. I didn't mean it seriously, so it is unfortunate that you took such great offense to the expression. The truth is I do make a living by giving people advice as I have been in this...

Re: Work Permit Help

Not every type of LMO allows you to apply at the POE (PORT OF ENTRY). Make sure you do not have an NOC C or D occupation. If you have only lived in Britain for the last 5 years (or other countries...

Re: Opening small buisness-not resident-residency?

You have some options. There is the BC PNP program - they will look for a $200K investment in your own businss, provided it is outside of greater Vancouver. As was suggested, you can make...

Re: 120 doc request - are original docs returned to us?

It's hit or miss, really. Sometimes my clients get a few documents returned, but usually they do not. The instructions generally ask for only photocopies, with the exception of the original police...

Re: So you have to resident 2 out of 3 of the 1st 5 years?

Kleinluka is correct. Your PR status does not automatically expire. It must be taken from you through enforcement action on the part of CIC or CBSA. Enforcement can only happen upon "examination"....

Re: advice for my son needed !

Joner, like I said, tell your son to e-mail me. (I am not going to charge him fees! ) I will just give him the names of the labs I know that are looking for international hires. Also,...

Re: advice for my son needed !

There is no such thing as "sponsorship" by a sibling. Under the Federal Skilled Worker category, the applicant can get an extra 5 points for having a sibling in Canada. However, they still hvae to...

Re: advice for my son needed !

Joner,
I have helped dozens of dental technicians with work permits and immigration, and I am the lawyer for several labs, including 2 of the biggest. There is an acute shortage of qualified dental...

Re: Self-employed persons class - what is world class?

The answer is always found at source. Check S.88(1) of the IRPA Regulations. To summarize, there are 3 types of "self-employed" applicants:
1. In respect of cultural activities
2. In respect of...

Re: Just been called for an interview CA

Tony,

this is a late reply, so maybe you have had your interview by now. Hope it went well. I want to clarify something for the others who joined in on this thread. People are correct that PNP...

Re: How long can I stay as a visitor

Mike, you asked what would be a good reason. I couldn't tell you, because I don't know anything about you. But if you have doubts about your request being reasonable, then perhaps you should seek...

Re: How long can I stay as a visitor

You were deemed admitted for 6 months from the date of entry. If you need to extend beyond that, just apply through the mail for an extension of your visitor status. Way simpler, far less risk...

Re: Help with Timelines

London HC has a current target (read quota) of 200 Investor cases per year. As of 30-6-09 they had 505 cases in the queue. Don't despair. It may not take that long. The unfortunate consequence of...

Re: BC PNP business program interview

It's not that bad of an experience. I have accompanied clients to these interviews on several occasions. If you have prepared the business plan by yourself, and are able to defend it and elaborate...

Re: Do CIC give AOR to Entrepreneur route....

Congratulations, Strawberry, for finally talking the plunge. You will get an acknowledgement letter with a file number, eventually. I would send everything to the High Commission by courier or...

Re: Investor visa process

Jayne, you went through fast. Must have been trying to fill the 2008 quota, er... "target". Most Investor cases in London are taking around 12-14 months to get the letter requesting the full...

Re: has anyone used the "entrepreneur route"

There is no priority given to the Entrepreneur category, which is unlike the new skilled worker category, unlike the PNP programs and unlike the Investor category. It just gets left on the shelf......

Re: Landing there, but no intention of living there!!

Historically, the number of Quebec Investors who actually remain in Quebec is something like 8%. That tells you something. Having said that, don't assume the same lax attitude applies to the other...

Re: CHANGING IMIGRATION STREAM

In the past, there was some flexibility about switching categories mid-stream. Those days are gone. If you are in the Investor stream, you are stuck there and would have to start all over under the...

Re: Federa Investor Immigration

Re: has anyone used the "entrepreneur route"

The Entrepreneur route is not as popular as it was before the rules changed in 2002. Under the old rules, the conditions to be fulfilled after landing were more vague and soft. The new rules are...

Re: IS someone receiving AOR for application sent after 02/27?

That AOR letter was for someone in Canada on a three year work permit - which yes, surprises me too. It might have been sent to him in error, but at this point, it's hard to say...

Re: post graduation work permit...

You'll probably be okay, but it will take a little longer. The Unit 777 for students is quite fast these days - they are posting turnaround of 13 days and in my experience, it is that fast. On the...

Re: Ground for WP denial...Andrew et al

I think this would be one of those instances where you should definitely hire an experienced CSIC consultant or a Cdn Imm lawyer. You really need to understand why you were denied entry to the USA....
