Not only is he getting it cheap but it's Northern Rock stripped of £21 billion of liabilities. i.e. Profits will go private, debts will remain public.

1. That's right. If you are resident (or intend to be within 18 months) you pay 3% stamp duty as opposed to 10% - on the catastal value rather than actual value of property. Catastal is much less...

I used disclosure scotland to get a certificate (nothing to do with Italy, but a licence to sell alcohol in UK) and it was a fantastic service. Applied and paid on line and all sorted in a few days....
