I just went to check the costs with Swiss Flights and the cost for a one way is 838 GBP versus 189 GBP flying to Toronto + 70 dlls per train ticket to Ottawa....

Then your Visas will be valid until Dec. 2011, therefore you will HAVE to land before the expiry date of the Medicals in Dec 2011.
