I seem to remember reading that there was a quota but I think it was higher than the number of spouse visas that were applied for anyway...not sure though

missed the police checks one... I just went to local police station though I am in the UK and I'm sure I've read things about FBI checks for us applicants, so I would suggest you investigate that...

I have just married my aussie husband, and I have taken his name so have used my married name on all the forms. It has a space for your maiden name anyway. I would expect it to be easier...
