Go to an offshore broker like Internaxx. You can buy ETF and funds on their platform as well as shares from most world stock markets.

It is an experience. You may hate it but at least you're giving it a go. I don't regret moving to Kuwait and I wouldn't have got my current position in Dubai if I hadn't done it.
