I haven't but if remember rightly SYB was raised there. There is a good Country Club type place with golf etc. But I don't know much else.

Yep, lived there but it was a long time ago - could not pretend to be in a position to comment on the current must-dos in the city....

If you're interested in history, then Failaka Island is worth a day trip - there are ruins of an outpost there dating back to Alexandrian times (the Kuwaitis like to claim that "Al-Iskander" himself established the base there, I believe that this is unsubstantiated by the scholars). Nevertheless, it's a nice day out - the ferry used to run from a jetty close to Kuwait Towers, so a pretty view of the Corniche from the boat....

Scientific Center is not bad and they had a good aquarium / imax theatre there. The Avenues is a new shopping mall on the 5th ring road which is pretty big and has plenty of restaurants and a decent cinema. Towers look nice from a distance but are pretty ugly inside.
