Re: Opening a bank account in Australia...

I've spoken to Firstdirect & they have no problem with me keeping my UK account but I'd assume you need an Oz account to pay your wages in & to pay your bills.

Re: Skilled Occupation List - X-Steel

I was under the impression that on the 457 you have to pay school fees even for state education.

Re: Skilled Occupation List - X-Steel

I've had an offer on a 457 but this visa is very restrictive, I'd prefer not to be tied to the same company for 4 years, plus I'd have to pay school fees.

If I get in on a 175 I'm free to work for...

Re: Oz Or Canada

Ok, it was badly worded :)

We had decided on Oz or Canada, our final decision will be based on whether we can get a visa & where the best job is.

Re: Relocation Packages

I was offered a job on a 457 with 2 weeks temp accommodation.

The 457 just seems so tying to me, think I'm going to go down the 175 skilled route.

Re: Skilled Occupation List - X-Steel

I think I'm under 312113 - Architectural Associate, based on this i get 40 points, which means i don't pass the points system yet I've had 3 job offers.

It's just nuts.

Skilled Occupation List - X-Steel

I'm currently working as an X-Steel CAD Draughtsman.

I can't find my occupation on the SOL.

Does this mean my skills are not in demand, or am i under a different heading.

Thanks in advance.

Ours would be a 457 visa.

Not quite sure what sort of visa my wife's parents would need.
