Re: South Brisbane
I currently work in South Brisbane, just behind the GOMA. Plenty of public transport options. Trains into South Brisbane station itself or Roma Street (only five minutes walk); buses into the King George Square bus station, again only five minutes, or the Culture Centre even better; CityCat (river bus) into South Bank, picturesque but not very efective.
So the world's your oyster really. Where do you fancy?

Fairfield and Yeronga are really nice with easy bus and rail links.

In short.... where we are is chuffin' awesome!
Can get rentals for $400 but they're going up everytime you renew the lease.
Renting with pets depends on the landlord.... same wherever you rent.
