Re: UK housing market slump

I was in a very similar situation, I contacted a company that does this, and they basically gave me two values. The value the house should be marketed at, and the offers I would expect to get based...

Re: Selling a Car which isn't worth much???

to be honest, if its economical and reliable, its probably going to sell easier than a lot of other cars with the price of fuel as it is right now. Put it in the local friday-ad or something, or...

Re: UK housing market slump

Nope, not given up hope at all. Just means we will have a bit less of a buffer when we first move over. In no huge rush at the moment anyhow. (except to get out of my current job, which I hate). :D

Re: what to take and not take

There is no way I am taking everything. Our couch is cheap, our bed was a cheap one from argos, and our coffee table was from a car boot sale.

The only expensive things I own are a Plasma TV...

Re: Any house selling tips.

Well, our flat is now sold. Put it on the market when things were a bit shaky, at £135k. Brought it down to £130k a few weeks later, then a few weeks after that down to £120k. Finally accepted an...

Re: Beware - the house market is falling

I agree with you! I don't even know why they didn't just say the market value was 115k. I think they just hoped I would hear 125 and think "Oooh, that's a good deal." Its not like I was...

Re: Beware - the house market is falling

Well, the estate agent just called back, apparently the guy who came to look at the flat this morning is an investor, and wanted to know the maintenance. Apparently they are going to feedback the...

Re: Using both a knife & fork when eating

OR you can have tea in a mug, with about 12 sugars. The mug should preferably have a lewd slogan and oily fingerprints on it. British diversity, gotta love it!

Re: Has anyone flown old pets to Canada?

We have some different pets to bring with us, wonder if anyone has any advice on how to do it? We have two guineapigs (one of which is called Peeeeg), and a corn snake (called... snake).

The...

Re: Beware - the house market is falling

Absolutely right. I got an offer from one of these places earlier this week, and they agreed with me the market value was 125k, but then proceeded to tell me that they would make an offer of 80% of...

Re: Using both a knife & fork when eating

My wife uses a knife and fork for eating doughnuts. As a dutiful, supporting husband, I feel its my responsibility to point out to her she is weird every time she does it.

Angry Re: Any house selling tips.

Our 1 bedroom flat has been on the market since march. Had 6 viewings so far. The second viewer nearly made an offer, but apparently she drove past at night, and due to the fact that parking in our...

Re: Living the dream or not????

My wife and I haven't gone yet, but what we are hoping for is to be able to buy a cheap house with little or no mortgage.

Not fussed about two cars or lots of toys. Certainly not when we first go...

The main things we will be bringing are DVD's and books. And a...

Re: what can't we take?

That's really helpful to know, thanks very much! :) I imagined us having to bake a very long cake and smuggle the swords in through them. Mmmm... cake....

Re: what can't we take?

Just wondering, my wife and I have a few ornamental swords. Replica of the Headless Horseman's sword from Sleepy Hollow, and a couple of Kit Rae ones. Would these be allowed through?

Re: Groceries in Canada are cheaper, I have evidence!

I agree that finding familiar work is obviously the ideal choice when first moving over. However I am fortunate that we will not have to panic to look for work when first moving over.

IT is a...
