Doesn't this mean they can fill the rest of my container with somebody else's boxes and get paid twice?

I also have a problem with the fact that they will charge me extra when I go over the 716 ft limit....especially considering that the estimator seems to have left out quite a few things! How does this normally work?

Yes, DB gave us an initial quote based on a certain volume. When I questioned this they said no problem to put put in more as we had sole use. Worth just making the point with them though.

When we move we were hoping to take a british telephone box and post box, these are very very heavy, would the shipping guys entertain these items?

I'm sure the shipping guys would be fine. Also, it should make calls and post back to the UK much cheaper. Great idea.

We still spent thousands on just the boring stuff like TV's, washer and dryer, general kitchen appliances, a few lamps and rugs, and another suite of furniture. That pot of money empties quicker than you would ever have imagined

Now, having said all that, if you are solo, or a couple with a lesser amount of clobber anyway, then yes, I'd say reconsider.
That's us! My wife and I (no kids, woohoo!) are selling most of our stuff before we go. Most of our furniture is from Argos.

The main things we will be bringing are DVD's and books. And a snake. And possibly guineapigs.
