Its not that bad, 3 hours is a little conservative, depends how you drive, there is some great prairie land to see on the way,

you have to start driving like a redneck once you pass airdrie...

Not sure if its near enough, or even if they are open, but highly recomended, the KOA campground at Hinton Has Kabins, very basic, but very cheap $60(per cabin) a night and they sleep 4 on one double...

Yep, i can buy it here in the local "jerrys" all the way out in Hanna (prairie Badlands) and do, they also sell, Boddingtons, Bass (my beloved former employer years ago) and John Smiths, all the same...

also, don't forget the further you get out of drumheller ( to the east) the cheaper the rent gets, i know ours is considerably cheaper than amanda's,

Alternatively, buy the North american equivalent the Mercury Probe, its the same thing and even really good ones are suprisingly cheap, and mostly the higher spec normally only seen in the earlier UK...

And don't forget AC's Baggage allowance is much higher than the chartered ones (canadian affair/air transat) 2x20kg bags each +carry on, it was worth the extra we paid, as for service/legroom/etc...
