Re: Goodbye.....

I moved over to Canada in 2000 and its great here, but we took a family trip to NZ and Aus last year and loved it over there (so much I'd love to make another move). NZ is such a beautiful country!...

Re: Anyone emigrated, then emigrated again?

I moved to Toronto back in 2000, I really like it here... that said, we took a family holiday to NZ this year and loved it. You are right, the cost of living in NZ does seem high in comparison but...

Re: My Partner and i both mid/late 20s want to move to Canada....help!

I think that's absolutely the right attitude. I came over for an adventure and stayed because I liked the place. Everyone's experience is different, but starting with the right attitude will carry...

"If you've only been to "shady" bars that are "not even close" in shadiness to bars in the UK then you haven't been to shady bars"

That's not the only conclusion from your sentence - the...

Re: My Partner and i both mid/late 20s want to move to Canada....help!

At the risk of getting into a my towns tougher than your town contest, I beg to differ. If your experience of the UK was peachy then that's great.. it just wasn't mine. Personally I've always found...

Re: My Partner and i both mid/late 20s want to move to Canada....help!

I'm not claiming that nothing happens here in Toronto, just that its nowhere near as dangerous as some would have you believe. Like I said, I've been here 11 years and was 25 when I came over... been...

Re: My Partner and i both mid/late 20s want to move to Canada....help!

I saw that crime rate came up a few times on this thread. My experience of the crime rate in Canada is so much better than the UK. In my home town in the UK I'd see a fight every time I went out to a...

Re: new "Fast track" PR visa???

It did exist at one time for those already in the country with jobs already. London would bump you to the top of the list and the whole process done in less than 12 months (as opposed to the many...

Re: Proof of funds when landing

Strange, is that written anywhere? I had arranged employment and was fast tracked but he still needed to see the minimum amount when I landed. The officer just needs to check a box on a form to say...

Re: Proof of funds when landing

No, they still want to see that you have funds to support yourself. I've been over here working for 8 years and they still wanted to see proof of funds. Its mostly a formality though, nothing too...

Re: accessing BBC iplayer in canada? proxy? how to with a mac?

I didn't say it was wise, just that it would work :) The only way I have come across that works is having a reliable proxy, and that suggests either a UK VPN connection (which acts as the proxy...

Re: Permanent Resident Application DIY

If you have a work permit already don't do the simplified application. You can put the full one in and be fast tracked. Simplified applications go to the bottom of the pile, under a box in a cupboard.
