Just to add from my experience
Shortly after the TIE came in, early 2021, I tried to register as autonomo. I still hadn't got a TIE and still hadn't applied becaise I was waiting for an updated cert...

Ban Chang area

Hi all

Looking for info/advice about the Ban Chang area.
I've seen it described as semi-rural and close to the sea, but have also seen it described as a mini-Pattaya.

Any first hand info...

Re: comprendo or entiendo

To the OP

Entiendo, Comprendo - pretty much interchangeable but for me, entiendo is with the head and comprendo with the heart ;)

Re: Just had my residency turned down

What I said was that the NIE must show them info about you. TGSS must check the NIE against some database to check the status of the person - after all the NIE isn't and never was, the same as a...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

Well then it's a pity that you're not the person dealing with this at the TGSS, because it does seem to matter to them

He's been a member of the union for a while, as far as I know, for several...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

Update, message from friend this morning.
He contacted his union for advice last week and they told him to call their migrations team. He expected them to confirm that the TIE is not necessary, but...

Re: Are you struggling to obtain your residency?

Ooh thanks, not in Madrid but maybe there'll an andalucia version as well - and at least if I send it to that new one they can alert someone to the fact that the other one is bouncing.

I checked...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

Yes, but what matters is what is happening in practice.

Every query to Extranjería gets the same response, that the TIE is not obligatory and the green card is still valid.
Any query anywhere...

Re: The EU wet stamping all British passports

Yes, the issue is that the delay in the padron means, for the moment, no right to work, whatever the rules are.
Any queries to extranjería get the same response, ie that changing to TIE can be...

Re: The EU wet stamping all British passports

I have posted over on the Residency denied thread about an incident where the WA seems not to be applying re right to work.
Briefly, long term resident, new employment situation, is told by TGSS he...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

I am absolutely not lying. How do they know he hasn't applied for the TIE? I don't know. They must have a record.

Anyway, I posted here as a friendly warning for anyone who might find themselves...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

I wish I could be so sceptical.

I can only imagine that the database now contains entries to show who has and who hasn't applied for the TIE. The caller was able to give info about when the...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

I imagine that to put someone on the SS as active again, they must check some database as regards NIE and current status.
It's definitely not the advice that was given in the autumn, which was...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

Yes, he has had residency for years, and has worked and paid into the system, including during 2020, though not during all of it.
Apparently the person who he spoke to, from the SS, said they had...

Re: Just had my residency turned down

An ex-colleague of mine, with permanent residency here, has just run into problems re permission to work.

He originally tried to switch to the TIE last year, but couldn't do so without the padron....

Re: You know youve lived in spain when:
