Re: ID cards for babies

You don't have to have one but we were made to understand by the Comune that children can no longer be added to parents ID cards or passports. We only got him an ID card because we were waiting for...

Re: ID cards for babies

We've just had this done for leaving Italy so we didn't need to faff when we got back to the UK. My son is Italian born with an Italian father. We're not married so my son's name is obviously...

Re: Having a baby in Italy in 2011

Precisely, I ended up skyping a friend's mum in the UK so that she could show me the correct position for breastfeeding as nobody at the hospital could be bothered!

And my point should have read...

Re: Having a baby in Italy in 2011

This so reminds me of my experience, especially the doppia pesata thing. I had no idea what they were on about but they were obsessed with it and the fact that my little boy lost 400g in the first 3...

Re: urgent: room/small flat in Como

I'll ask my other half and let you know. We have our flat in Como but it's probably too big and the rent is 1100 euros per month. We live across the road from the university as well. I'll ask some...

Re: Travel time UK to N. Italy by car

We were in Como until yesterday and we've done the trip a couple of times to Milton Keynes. We did 15 hours one-way including the tunnel but it was a long day with only a couple of comfort breaks.

Re: Citizenship for my dual-nationality son

Thanks 'o nonno! This makes perfect sense - I'm still not clear about registering with the Italian Consulate but we'll see what happens when we get back. The less Italian bureaucracy I can expose...

Re: Citizenship for my dual-nationality son

I'm totally confused, and they don't exactly help with explanations in Italy!!!!!

I appreciate he might have been born in Italy but he's also British and carries a British passport. I've...

Re: Citizenship for my dual-nationality son

I find it very confusing. He's also a British citizen, but I haven't had to inform the UK that he lives in Italy. We're going to renew his Carta D'Identita and I think we'll leave it there. From...

Re: Citizenship for my dual-nationality son

Presumably he could only be called up if we were actually living in Italy? The mind boggles here to be honest. After 4.5 years of head slamming I'm throwing in the towel.

Re: Citizenship for my dual-nationality son

Just to muddy the waters a bit more, he's not my husband! The laugh of that here of course is that I'm barely recognised as a second class citizen but the fact that we live together means it has an...

Citizenship for my dual-nationality son

Hi

I'm on the move back to the UK with my son, who was born in Italy and has an Italian father. His father at this stage is retaining his residency in Italy as he'll likely be travelling...

Re: my 15 year old daughter, can't speak Italian, will she cope?

I'm sorry you feel we are being negative, but you came on here to ask people's advice, and for better or worse that's what you've got! I think the age of your daughter makes a huge difference and...

Re: my 15 year old daughter, can't speak Italian, will she cope?

My experience of Italy is that very little support is given to foreign children unless they are able to go to an international school. I've seen children at age 7 in an Italian private school...

We are moving back to the UK from Como, Italy sometime in October and wondered by chance whether anyone has an empty van going back to the UK that we could use.

Either that or does...
