I will ask the company immigrations specialist to consult with the Attourney to see if there is any way to obtain a new L1 visa. That certainly appears a more reliable option at this stage.

Fair enough - keeping and using the old passport along with the new one is not such a big deal - the most important thing is that the visa is still valid even though the passport is cancelled....

I am with the same company US and UK - just an intercompany transfer. I actually had our visas renewed a month before leaving (complicated story) so have almost 2 more years of L1 and L2's to return...
