Re: I-751 and a few questions

This could very definitely have been a one-off, never work again for anyone else, crazy lucky kind of situation, but when I applied for AOS* I included home-printed copies of my tax returns as my...

Re: Ribena

Our local Jewel (West Loop) has a small English foods section, including Ribena. I don't think they all have that section, but can't be just the one, either!

Re: ashes cricket

I have used them in the past. They usually have the sky sports coverage. Quality was pretty decent and only $15 a month I think.

Re: Proper Sausage in Chicago!

I think he definitely (and cleverly) "played up" his Englishness to appeal to the Americans. His stall at the Farmers' Market had a huge Union Jack as the siding!

Proper Sausage in Chicago!

Just wanted to let anyone in the Chicago area know that I found proper sausages today! They were on offer at the Lincoln Park farmers' market, but are for sale at a few grocery stores/other farmers'...

Re: Cost of living - Chicago

I didn't include the two cats :-)

I really don't think we do live all that cheaply (not being argumentative, just trying to give the OP a good perspective). We are in our late 20s, no kids, so...

Re: Cost of living - Chicago

I really don't think Chicago is comparable to London in cost of living, somewhat expensive for America, but not quite so crazy. Here are our basic expenses:

Rent
We live in the West Loop, about a...

Re: Eddie Izzard on the Stage

The wife and I went to see him in Chicago. Thought he was really good, maybe not quite 'Jeff Vader' or 'cake or death' good but good nonetheless.

Re: Moving to the US: Practical Questions

I feel the need to point out that, while many people may get away with the "VWP express," you're unlikely to convince them that you're only here for a casual visit when you show up with the dog.

Re: Christmas flights

Cheers for all the advice. Looking at what everyone has said it looks like it is just a very expensive time to fly - at least we only have to do it every other year!

Re: Christmas flights

Thanks for the info, for the price difference I think well stick with the 22nd.

Out of curiosity, how do you know that the flight on the 22nd is fully booked? The return flight is a different,...

Re: Christmas flights

I think it was the fact that we saw a flight for $750 that is the real kick in the balls, so to speak.

I thought I had found a 10% coupon for AA but you have to fly by the 27th Nov. (and not over...

Re: What are your plans on election day, election evening?

We are off to Grant park to the Obama rally (hopefully anyway, still waiting for the tickets but we got an email saying we would get them). Should be a good night, either that or a riot!
