BA Strike over Christmas and New Year
Hope none of y'all are flying BA, They are planning to strike from the 22nd Dec - 2nd Jan........

If you factor in possible weather related delays also then it's going to be a nightmare for travellers. I read yesterday that BA Cabin crew are on average paid double the salary of Virgin crew and about £10,000 more than Easyjet, a strike at this time of year is not going to boost customer loyalty.

Makes me glad BA no longer fly out of Detroit, because if they did, we'd probably be flying with them over Xmas.

'BA cabin crew are still the best paid in Britain, with an average salary of £29,000 compared with £14,000 at Virgin Atlantic.'
But I wonder if that's a quirk of the stats - maybe BA have lots more long service staff and virgin have more entry level peeps

You've got to wonder what planet they are on really, as one commenter said in that Times article "they need to wake up and smell the recession"

Thank god my friends are flying in on Virgin.
Gives the staff a nice Xmas break doesn't it.

Plus the benefits are pretty shit compared to Virgin, though the union is pretty decent.

My son is flying here from Heathrow on Thursday (17th) and has a return for the 28th. What happens if they do strike how does he get back? Not that I mind if he stays longer but I think his boss might.
