I flew Emirates last year from Gatwick and found them very good.
Yes it is broken up to 3 legs with and hour or so at Dubai and Singapore.
Flew the direct way as well with Qantasand but found that...

Would def recommend EMIRATES!!
Much better sevice-excellent entertainment on every seat back and as it has 3 stops usually-you get to lay out on the whole row if not busy!!

It's a temp visa and i had police check done on 8th nov 05 so i guess visa is valid 12 months from then?

Once our spouse visa is hopefully granted how long do you have to enter oz.
We think that you have to enter oz within 12 months and we don't want to apply too early.
