Ooh love Italian, which 'proper' (ie. not pizza parlours!) Italian restaurants in Toronto are worth a look? Trying to build up some ideas for future reference thanks! :)

Aren't we always advised that you shouldn't directly compare income/costs of items etc between the two countries...

Canada seems like Britain a long while ago in terms of socially acceptable behaviour, civilised society etc. Would be nice...

I think that the Canadian health system suffers from the same structural problems as the NHS... but I see more effort to fix them in the UK than Canada... are you sure you want to emmigrate?

Well said! Sorry Canada2006 I have to agree that I don't think it does anything for integration & community if immigrants expect to have everything in their own language rather than make the effort...

On the ambulance thingy I have to say I'd be pleased to see charges for improper use of the emergency services in the UK - if any politicians here had the balls to come up with such a scheme.

Hmmm, nice idea in principle but don't know whether 8 year old/likely grubby fingers and contact lenses is a good mix - can get all sorts of nasty eye problems if you aren't careful with them ...
