keep a uk bank account as it comes in handy for the relatives in the uk to pay in xmas/bday money, tell credit card company new oz address, set-up direct debit to pay account, keep sufficient cash in...

we didnt, and we self-shipped, just put on the list whatever was labelled on each numbered box, ie 23) Books 23) Kitchen Utensils..... we only got 2 items opened and we had nothing taken by AQIS.

If you look at the Connex Train Listing for the Hurstbridge Line, that will give you the suburbs from Hurstbridge onto Eltham and then into the City.

We live in Eltham, train takes about 50 minutes into Flinders, and cost less than $10 for a day ticket.
