Re: ENS Visa (121/856) (Part 3....Dec 2010 onwards)

As of 4.00pm, Friday 25 February 2011 we are unable to be ejected from the country. Our 856 was awarded and we're damn relieved!

Re: Future for kids in Oz v UK

That very much bears out our experience Jad n Rich. Apparently, any kid who is getting beaten sensless cannot push back as 'violence is always unacceptable' and is punished with a suspension.

So...

Re: Future for kids in Oz v UK

Parental support is a large factor there. 'It's part of growing up' seems to be the attitude, closely followed by 'he needs to harden up'.

I think it may be different when their kids come home...

Re: Future for kids in Oz v UK

Dean, we are in Australia. My own experience is that bullying is far worse here than anywhere else my kids have gone to school

paddyo, thanks for the support. In the last hour I have gone from...

Re: Future for kids in Oz v UK

Well, if my son can survive the daily bullying from his feral pier group and the apathetic 'support' from the school staff to both his aspergers and his daily assaults, he will have a better life...

Re: Australianise our CV's

Funny, most C Level execs I know manage it. The problem is not the length but the content. People over detail their resume and leave out the big stuff. Keep it to responsibility and achievement and...

Re: 457 the saga goes on

It's normal in EPCM work for the client to approve all expenditure, including hires. I had the same issue when I was offered my job. My company made the offer, client approval pending, then the...

Re: Australianise our CV's

Here's my two cents as a hiring manager (The guy who is offering the job):

* Keep your resume (Yes resume, not CV) to one page. If you cannot manage that, two pages absolute maximum. My life is...

Re: ENS Visa (121/856) Current Timescales (Part 2.....)

Regarding the size of the company affecting the speed of the response, I work for an American multi-national corporation (a REALLY big one). Twelve months ago, processing was taking around 20 days,...

Re: No local experience? you are going to the database

Shuvo, From that comment, I would assume that you don't have a lot of insight in to how agencies work and their commercial terms (Why would you, you're a developer!)

You are correct to assume that...

Re: schooling in newcastle area

I'd love to know where as it hasn't been my experience over the last thirty grand. Is it something you've had experience of or something you have heard of?

Re: schooling in newcastle area

I'm afraid that's not correct. The fees are levied by the State Government and not the school. By state law, the school should not accept the child on its role until the payment has been receipted by...

Re: Breaking the Lease

The next step is most likely that you suck it up and take it. Unless it's specifically refered to in your lease documents, you have nothing to fall back on.

Re: refusing a bodyscan at the airport...

I love the way terms like "rights" and "civil liberties" are chucked about. With some people, everything they either don't like, requires them to give something back or they just don't agree with is...
