No, you can check the status on the website but I found it was not updated- because the day I received mine, the website was still saying working on it or something like that.

Do you apply for him in while your in Canada or do you have to go back to ol blighty while he stays and then in UK apply to sponsor him (as long as you have the job with 18k a year) ?

Have to agree-prices are on the up and up.
for me from Orlando to LGW its 1200 return the thing that gets me is the price of the seat was only 580 the TAXES and FEES were 620 !!

My advice keep open a bank account here in the USA for your SS payments to go in and just withdraw from the UK with your bank card.
that way the UK dont know nothing about your US SS pension :)

Would be nice If we could get someone on here from UK borders to give us the rules from the horses mouth but if they did that they wouldnt be making 3 bucks a minute :(

I had to call the 900 number - and talk really fast to get some answers before my credit card maxed out :) its 3 bucks a minute

after you get the visa they told me 24 months to use it....

PS I believe its easier to get your pet into the UK than your wife !!

I am in the US with an American wife and the same rules apply to us re the 18k

Welcome to the forum, and yes these new rules have thrown us all under the bus
but, from what I read it was done to stop all these arranged marriages etc from Pakistan and India but it had to be...

No we are not relying on savings-wifey has gaurenteed income of over 50k pounds (We are lucky)
