I was in this situation and had to get a letter from my ex refusing to allow the children to have a medical. She wouldn't sign it but eventually did after I said I would have to get a solicitor...

I didn't get anything but just made sure it was listed as an antique and all was OK. Saying that it was pretty obvious about their age and the books all look 1800's anyway!!
