Re: Visa Refused for my Spouse! :(

I think this has more to do with having no 'history' in case of arranged marriage.

Of course these days no one gets married without any prior contact whatsoever. In arranged marriage, usually...

Re: Aus Citizenship - Variation to the residence requirement

We applied for citizenship for my wife at the OCU (overseas citizenship unit) back in November 2012. No progress yet. Apparently they moved their processing unit from Melbourne to Canberra earlier...

Re: FBI clearance

Unfortunately it is not as easy as that. I don't want to get into US Law as this is Australia forum, but unlike in Australia, you don't get 28 days to leave the country + employer responsibility if...

Re: Citizenship Application - Visa Breaks

If you want to go...

Re: Citizenship Application - Visa Breaks

I agree with DIAC's assessment. If you had no valid visa & you were outside Australia at that time, where does the concept of "residency" apply?

That means anyone who has obtained a tourist visa...

Re: Currently you do not meet the invited score:(

If I remember correctly, I was in a similar situation almost 10 years back. In fact ACS assessment came back as "unsuitable for migration". Then I asked George to be my agent. Now I am a citizen :-) ...

Re: Currently you do not meet the invited score:(

That is really sad my friend. You should have used an agent. They would have seen other people with similar background and would have known how to properly present your case in a way that might have...

I am on the same boat.

I have been in the U.S. for about 5 months now. I became a citizen early this year.

Re: Aussie Citizenship eligibility - do overseas holidays count?

You are allowed a total of 1 year out of the 4 to be out of the country.

So if you haven't been out of the country for a total of 365 days, then this 1 week in hong kong is within the 365 day...

Re: Citizenship working outside Oz

As I said, the pilot has a made that choice to fly international routes. A pilot flying domestic routes is working in Australia. There is a choice here. By your same logic the pilot can "choose to...

Re: Citizenship working outside Oz

Not if you aren't a sports person or working in an oil rig.

Apparently the minister thinks it's OK to discriminate based on employment.

So if you are not an athlete or an oil rig worker they...

Re: Who is qualified to certify documents in India for PASA?

I believe so... getting them done with a Gazzeted Officer should be OK.

If you are using an agent in India maybe they can guide you better, though.

Re: Renewing RRV & Proving Ties With Australia

If your spouse is an australian citizen (and you are living with your spouse), my understanding is that time spent with the spouse will be counted as time spent in Australia.
