Re: Darwin - day tours to NPs

Thanks both for your replies.
Turns out a lot of the tours don't start operating until May, but I've booked on one to Katherine Gorge, so hopefully that should be good.
In any case looking forward...

I've done this a couple of times - beautiful scenery.
The ferry back from Manly after dark is nice...

Re: Missing UK food

I noticed Twiglets in my local Woolies foreign foods section a while back and now I'm seriously addicted. I think I might have to get someone to post me a crate from back home - it would be cheaper!...

Just had a look at the web-site - looks great. I'm thinking maybe a few days there and a few in Kota Kinabalu. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Malaysian holiday

Thanks again - I've not been to the bird park so might give that a go. Like you say, just walking about in the different areas if probably the best thing.

Thanks Goodfella, I had thought about Melaka, but wasn't sure there would be enough to do for a week. I'll try to combine it with a trip somewhere else when I have a bit more holiday available!

Re: Moving to Toowoomba- any advice please?

I would say it depends on whether you like city life or something a bit quieter. I agree with Jothefw that it is a nice town - I've always liked the feel of the place. Plus it has the advantage of...

Re: Brisbane - Springfield lakes area or North lakes area

I wouldn't rule Springfield Lakes out completely. OK so I prefer living bayside, but that is mainly because when I was in Springfield there was no train, so if I wanted a night out in Brisbane it...

Re: Bribane - Springfield lakes area or North lakes area

I lived in Springfield Lakes until about a year ago. I would say it is definitely very family friendly and nice enough place to live, though I much prefer where I am now. The train line happened...

Re: Shark Cull Begins

This article:

is quite interesting - I hadn't realised that shark nets were intended to kill sharks...

Re: Best Mosquito Repellents?

Hmm, not sure that is entirely true. CO2 (together with heat) is certainly a major cue, and acts from a distance as you say, but other odours (e.g. those in sweat) also act as attractants, and it...

Re: Best Mosquito Repellents?

Ah, didn't know that about confusing DEET with DDT. Had a quick look at the EPA site and it seems that there is no evidence of any carcinogenic effect. BUT it definitely does something nasty to...
