Re: Electricals - to ship or not to ship

Now that is interesting; I wasn't aware (Although am thoroughly not surprised) that mains are 2x120v here in North America (I probably should have been a sparky, haha). How would you "reintegrate"...

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

That sounds about right. My test was last July and it took all the way until the end of November to get the Oath set up/completed. You should be good, if you mean your PR literally expires in 2023.

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Anecdotally, it seems a copy of the diploma or school transcripts (demonstrating education in either English or French) would fulfill the requirement. I sent a copy of my uni transcripts and a photo...

Re: Electricals - to ship or not to ship

If you have one, I'd give it a go - KitchenAids are notoriously expensive, no matter where you buy them and our US one worked fine in the UK above first gear with a transformer - just make sure to...

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Depends on province, but it's typically on the matter of several months; they're quite backlogged at the moment.

Re: Citizenship Oath

Once you have taken the Oath, you're a citizen, you are correct. HOWEVER, you have to get the Certificate of Citizenship before you can get the passport. I was reading on another forum how a guy took...

Re: Citizenship Oath

That's not to say don't do it outside of Canada - if (and a BIG "if") IRCC approves it. It never hurts to ask, especially if you're in one of the rare corner cases, but just be prepared to fly in, do...

Re: Electricals - to ship or not to ship

Re: Citizenship Oath

Quite unpopular. I have heard tell that IRCC has a fairly good list of VPN provider IP subnets, so can tell where people are connecting from and may cross-reference it. More importantly, you're...

Re: Citizenship Oath

I think anyone that's eligible to take the Oath must be present in Canada to take it. Per the link here...

Re: Passports

So it seems I got lucky, then; it now appears that, due to Omicron, the office is now by appointment only. I just did a walkin to the Montreal office on Rene Levesque on December 9th for the initial...

Re: Citizenship Application Timeline

Applications are seriously dragging, according to another Canadian-only forum that I frequent. My entire process from mailing the application in September 2019 until passport in hand was 2 years, 3...

Re: Passports

Just wanted to share my experience as I literally just did this a month ago. In-person applicant in Montreal for a passport the day after I got my certificate of citizenship. I think I paid a small...

Re: Contacting ircc regarding Pr

I believe address changes are one of the few things they'll take calls on; otherwise, it's pretty much only life-threatening situations (domestic abuse) or cases related to the crisis in Afghanistan...

Re: Citizenship Oath

I /think/ it's a tiny bit more broad - you just have to be in the service to the government and working abroad - the Military is an obvious example of this, but I think diplomatic folks are similarly...

Re: Electricals - to ship or not to ship

Hello, all - just joined so I could reply to this and hopefully help someone.

CAVEAT: FIRST AND FOREMOST, I AM NOT AN ELECTRICIAN! Whenever in doubt, consult a specialist - this is merely my...
