Re: Pedro Sánchez announces General Election for Sunday 23 July

Well to end this thread: Sanchez is the president. Took about 4 months but such is the system in spain.
Admittedly it is not going to be easy for PSOE to hold such a disparate government together...

Re: Pedro Sánchez announces General Election for Sunday 23 July

Honestly PP really know how to mess things up. All they needed to do was stick to the narrative that an amnesty was undemocratic etc...but no they stirred it up by calling for all these protests and...

Re: Economic Migrants

It is now clear that the EU has to take real positive action in the face of immigration. We are now almost certainly going to face mass immigration from the middle east as a result of the current...

Re: Economic Migrants

I have been watching this today and of course it mixes up political agitation and day to day realities. Vox and PP focus on it as it appeals to their supporters but at the same time it is an...

Re: Economic Migrants

An interesting view on this was giving to me from my ex who has some side jobs - one is as a phone interpreter for the government. She handles emergencies, hospitals etc but the main area is helping...

Re: Economic Migrants

One thing to consider though is that many arriving in spain are intent on not actually staying but moving up to Northern countries and particularly UK. So the reality is that immigrating isn't seen...

Re: Succession tax update for Canaries (and other regions)

Best would be to make a gift and pay the costs now than have the uncertainty about the future with inheritance.

Re: Succession tax update for Canaries (and other regions)

The answer is difficult because it depends when in the future the inheritance is. At the moment the law will stand in Valencia and Canaries etc only as long as the local government decides to keep...

Re: Is it really worth it?

Something to consider: you talk about your dogs and Spain but one thing people from UK don't realize is that the extreme temperatures in July and August ( 40 degrees or more) are not good for many...

Re: Fuengirola

You will only really find long term accommodation by actually being in the place and looking at local adverts or looking for signs on balconies saying Se Alquila. Try and get a couple of weeks in an...

Re: Considering the move to he Costa Del Sol

I assume you are aware that you will be a Spanish tax resident irrespective of where you live. If your family live permanently in spain then that is your centre of financial interest , no way round...

Re: CGT: Sale of UK property.

I have found that if you co-own a Spanish property you can change the deeds without the same costs of a normal property transfer. Under Extinción de condominio you simply pay around 1.5% of the...

Re: Rich or Poor?

Every year these are published and it has to be pointed out it doesn't work in the same way as a uk list would. Torrevieja is the classic example. It makes it sounds like Burton on trent or...

Re: CGT: Sale of UK property.

Yes I wondered about this. The problem starts because you would then need to change the modelo 720 to show you no longer had your UK property. This means you have transferred it either through a sale...

Re: CGT: Sale of UK property.

Yes I thought that would be strange. In theory my ex can sign the UK 50% to me and only CGT would be paid on 50% of profit. This would then be declared in spain but DT kicks in so CGT isn't paid twice...

Re: CGT: Sale of UK property.

I wasn't aware that there is a UK transfer tax as high as 10 % at the same time as CGT. If that is the case we will simply share the property as it provides both a good rental income plus capital...

Re: CGT: Sale of UK property.

Okay that sounds like I thought it would be. Do you know if CGT is paid if your ex'-spouse signs 50% of property to you?

CGT: Sale of UK property.

If I sell my UK property and I am a Spanish resident is the CGT paid in UK or Spain? I am assuming that the double taxation agreement kicks in but not sure

The OP is suggesting that they run the company from spain- that obviously is work so they answer is no for the NLV. Your income must be " passive". The owner would have to resign his role in the...

Re: Pedro Sánchez announces General Election for Sunday 23 July

Put simply Feijóo will not be the president of Spain this side of another election. In fact, there is a high possibility that he could find himself pushed aside for Ayuso. All eyes are on Sanchez...
