Re: STILL VERY SPARKLY contributory parent visa thread part 3.

Hi

Glad you found the link. If you consider that you are ineligible to sign the petition because you do not yet receive any UK state pension - thats no problem - being a "pensioner" is not a...

You may wish to know that there is an E...

Re: UK Pension does it rise with inflation when retired in Oz?

Hi

You have dangled the bait and I'll be brave enough to bite

What does the fact that the Australian Age Pension being means-tested have to do with those of us who "rant" over the...

Re: Health care age loading?

Re: Health care age loading?

Hi

We don't have it either - especially as we missed the 12 month point (never informed - but that's another story!) and were invited to take up (at that time) a 64% loading

We've been...

Re: UK expats lose pension freeze appeal

Hi............. and welcome to BE.

This is a very interesting take on the issue, some of which I am not qualified to comment on.

The Court focused on the tax issue, which was the wrong issue -...

Re: UK expats lose pension freeze appeal

Hi

You learn something every day! I wasn't aware of this particular ruling - not that it affects me!

Digressing - we drove the road over the hill from Berry to Kangaroo Valley a few weeks ago....

Re: UK expats lose pension freeze appeal

Hi

Whilst not wanting to comment on your first remark, your last para is interesting.

I seriously considered deferring my claim for the state pension when I reached 65 (last month!) in order to...

Re: UK expats lose pension freeze appeal

Hi - yes, we are able to claim the 8% offset for the UPP which is a bonus, however small.

I am trying to get my (old!) head round your first sentence. Are you saying that the 9% Aus Super...

Re: UK expats lose pension freeze appeal

Hi

The decision, surely, is only sensible if it is applied equally across all expat pensioners?

I do agree with you, however, that with a rapidly ageing population (in all western countries),...

Re: UK expats lose pension freeze appeal

Hi

Correct - and while we are on tax matters and to add salt to the wound, as ex-UK pensioners now citizens of Australia, we are obliged to pay tax in Australia on our UK pension income with a...

Re: UK expats lose pension freeze appeal

Hi

This all refers to the long running saga of the UK state pension being "frozen" in various countries that do not have a reciprocal agreement with UK - eg Australia, NZ, SA, Canada to name the 4...

Re: Can anyone recommend a dishwasher?

We have a F and P too - but not the swish (and pricey) two drawer job

Ours has run well enough since we've been here - 3.5 years - and I hope I haven't put the curse on it now !

Re: Eligibilty for Child Tax Benefit and Stimulus Payments
